  • Publication number: 20040127871
Abstract: A secondary absorbent article includes a liquid-permeable liner attached to an absorbent core that includes an absorbent layer. The absorbent layer includes a plurality of channels that extend through the absorbent layer. The secondary absorbent article optionally includes an attachment means for attaching the secondary absorbent article to a primary absorbent article. The geometry of the channels is designed to allow a portion of the insulting body fluids to flow through the absorbent core of the secondary absorbent article, while also retaining some body fluids in the absorbent core of the secondary absorbent article. The secondary absorbent article augments the absorbent capacity of the primary absorbent article while presenting a drier body-facing surface to the skin of the wearer.
