  • Publication number: 20240059106
Abstract: In one aspect, a rotary union for a wheel end system including a wheel hub having a passageway. The rotary union includes a pressurized air receiver configured to be mounted to a vehicle spindle, an air inlet of the pressurized air receiver, a pressurized air distributor rotatable around an axis relative to the pressurized air receiver, and an air outlet of the pressurized air distributor. The pressurized air distributor is configured to be mounted to the wheel hub and rotate therewith. The rotary union further includes a seal axially spaced from the air inlet so that the seal and the air inlet are offset from one another along with the vehicle spindle. The seal is shiftable from a disengaged configuration to an engaged configuration to permit pressurized air received at the air inlet of the pressurized air receiver to flow to the air outlet of the pressurized air distributor.

  • Publication number: 20230415509
Abstract: In one aspect, a wheel hub oil seal including an annular seal having a central opening to receive a vehicle spindle. The annular seal has an oil side for being contacted by oil in the wheel hub and an air side of the annular seal opposite the oil side. The annular seal has a radially outer mounting portion configured to sealingly engage an interior surface of the wheel hub. The annular seal includes a sealing member having a contact portion configured to form a dynamic seal with a running surface. The contact portion of the sealing member has an underlip pressure profile configured to pump oil toward the oil side of the annular seal upon rotation of the radially outer mounting portion of the annular seal with the wheel hub around the vehicle spindle.

  • Publication number: 20230249496
Abstract: In one aspect, an apparatus for retaining lubricant in a wheel hub assembly, the wheel hub assembly including a wheel hub and a spindle nut for securing the wheel hub to a vehicle spindle. The apparatus includes an annular lubricant seal, a mounting portion of the lubricant seal to be mounted to the wheel hub, a central opening of the lubricant seal to receive a running surface of the spindle nut, and a sealing portion of the lubricant seal extending around the central opening of the lubricant seal. The sealing portion is configured to form a dynamic seal with the running surface of the spindle nut and keep the lubricant from escaping between the sealing portion of the lubricant seal and the running surface of the spindle nut as the wheel hub rotates around the vehicle spindle.

  • Publication number: 20210129582
Abstract: In one aspect of the present disclosure, a wheel hub assembly is provided that includes a hub body having an outboard end portion and an inboard end portion, a bearing assembly, and a seal. The seal includes a seal case and a sleeve. The hub body and seal case are rotatable relative to the sleeve. The wheel hub assembly further includes a stop of the bearing assembly configured to resist movement of the sleeve toward the outboard end portion of the hub body as the hub body, bearing assembly, and sleeve are advanced together in an inboard direction along a vehicle spindle. The stop permits the bearing assembly to transfer a force applied in an inboard axial direction against the bearing assembly, such as by tightening of a spindle nut, to the sleeve and urge the sleeve along a vehicle spindle.
