  • Patent number: 11490899
Abstract: A surgical device and method for performing a controlled resection of the neck of a femur during a hip replacement procedure. The surgical device includes a body portion. The body portion has a mounting portion. The mounting portion is mountable on a femoral head of the femur to position the body portion with respect to a center of the femoral head. The body portion also has an opening for mounting the body portion on an intramedullary pin located in an intramedullary canal of the femur. The surgical device also includes a resection guide. The resection guide is adjustably locatable at a plurality of positions on the body portion for positioning a resection plane indicator of the resection guide with respect to the neck of the femur according to a measured radius/diameter of the femoral head.

  • Publication number: 20200383800
Abstract: There is provided a holder (100) for a femoral knee component (20), the holder comprising a pair of jaws which includes a first jaw (102) having a first femoral knee component engagement feature (110a) and a second jaw (104) having a second femoral knee component engagement feature (110b). The holder also includes a bridge (106) extending between the first jaw and the second jaw, the bridge being configured to allow the jaws to move between an open configuration for engaging with a femoral knee component and closed configuration for disengaging from the femoral knee component. A handle connection feature (112a) is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20200000597
Abstract: A trial femoral head for use in a trial fitting of a hip prosthesis, the head having an outer surface and a plurality of cavities configured to mate with a male connection member of a femoral stem component, each cavity having an opening located in the outer surface of the head, each opening being of a different size such that when the male connection member of the femoral stem component is mated with a first cavity it is received at a first depth, and when it is mated with a second cavity it is received at a second depth.

  • Publication number: 20180318110
Abstract: A trial liner for fitting in a shell part of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis has a concave inner bearing surface for articulation with a head part, and an opposite outer surface. The liner has first and second portions which are separated by a slot extending between the inner and outer surfaces which has first and second ends. The slot divides the liner into first and second portions which are connected to one another by means of a first hinge at the first end of the slot and a second hinge at the second end of the slot. Each of the first and second portions has a locking feature in the form of a recess or protrusion which can engage a corresponding locking feature on the internal surface of a shell part to lock the liner into the shell part. The hinges allow the first portion of the liner to pivot relative to the second portion between first and second configurations, in which the distance between the first and second portions is less in the second configuration than in the first configuration.
