  • Patent number: 7448919
Abstract: A cigarette-lighter assembly connector includes an indicator, particularly a light source, that can be activated when the connector is sufficiently inserted into a cigarette-lighter socket to indicate to the user that a portable electronic device can be safely operated via the power supplied from the cigarette-lighter assembly connector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 2, 2007
Date of Patent: November 11, 2008
    Assignee: American Power Conversion Corporation
    Inventor: Conrad J. Baranowski
  • Patent number: 7372706
Abstract: A rack-mountable in-line surge protection system includes a chassis configured to mount to an equipment rack, the chassis including: an electrically-conductive buss, an electrically-conductive ground member coupled to the buss and configured and disposed to be connected to a grounding mechanism, and a plurality of electrically-conductive bias members coupled to the buss.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4300191
Abstract: A fixed frequency pulse width modulated current fed inverter power supply with imbalance compensation provided by means of a primary inductor in the input circuit. Energy is coupled between the primary inductor in the input and secondary inductor windings in the output circuits to provide a balanced power supply with good efficiency.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 1980
Date of Patent: November 10, 1981
    Assignee: Powercube Corporation
Inventors: Conrad J. Baranowski, Joel T. Bedell
  • Patent number: 4104701
Abstract: An assembly for mounting electronic power devices to a flexible circuit board and in an enclosure. A slotted plastic button is mounted to the built-in heat sink portion of the power device and a spring member is mounted between two such power devices. The spring forces the heat sink surfaces of the power devices against opposite walls of the enclosure and transmits insertion forces to the flexible board during assembly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 1976
Date of Patent: August 1, 1978
    Assignee: Powercube Corporation
    Inventor: Conrad J. Baranowski
  • Patent number: 4085433
Abstract: A method for increasing the packaging density of discrete electronic components. The components are mounted to a flexible printed circuit board at predetermined locations with normal orientation with respect to the board. The board is then folded in such a manner that the bodies of the components are mutually interleaved and are interleaved with other circuit components and terminals. A package with such interleaved components is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 1976
Date of Patent: April 18, 1978
    Inventor: Conrad J. Baranowski
  • Patent number: 4073561
Abstract: A heat sink and connection device for use with electrical leads and wires. A piece of tubing, large compared with the electrical lead to which it is to be connected, is formed with a diametrical hole through both sides of the tube wall. The lead is passed through both holes and the tube is then crimped, thereby forming 3-point contact with the lead and making positive electrical and physical connection therewith. The same concept may be used to join together two ends of wires or to connect a terminal clip or connector to a wire. The method of using the tubing to form the heat sink or connector is also disclosed.
