  • Patent number: 7035512
Abstract: A system and method for the transmission of optical signals via optical fibers in a building provided with a system of conduits for electric wires. The optical fibers are ducted through the same conduits as the electric wires. The optical fibers are fitted to the same wall or ceiling terminals as the electric wires. The terminals can comprise connectors to which the optical fibers are fitted, or optical transceivers. The terminals can also comprise electrically supplied modules for amplifying, processing, routing or converting the optical signals. Monitoring, controlling, processing etc. of the optical signals can be done in a central element, in the proximity of a central module for monitoring etc. the electric energy in the building.

  • Patent number: 7018136
Abstract: Method for installing a duct where an existing longitudinal member is present along a section over which the duct is to be installed. The longitudinal member is utilized as a guide for the duct. The tape-shaped element is closed around the longitudinal element through mating of complementary coupling devices longitudinally situated along the tape-shaped member so as to form a duct, with the coupled tape-shaped element then being propelled along the longitudinal element to extend the duct. The tape-shaped element can house an optical fiber cable. Through use of such a tape-shaped element, the duct, illustratively housing an optical fiber cable, can be formed around an existing (e.g. copper) telecommunications cable with any need to interrupt or remove that cable.

  • Patent number: 6824329
Abstract: For installing a cable duct around a cable buried in the ground, the duct is propelled by a propelling device formed of a solenoid and a corresponding core member of a magnetic material, and a duct transporting device. The core member is provided with a coupling which couples to a free end of the cable. The solenoid is driven by a current so as to maintain, during operation, the free end of the longitudinal member, coupled to the core member, in a fixed position with respect to the transporting device. The propelling operation is supported by feeding a fluid under pressure through the duct, with the foremost end of the duct being provided with a spouting member. Suitable design of the core member in combination with a suitably varying current for driving the solenoid allows increased dynamic propelling operation and consequently improved performance.

  • Publication number: 20040064524
Abstract: Method and system for the dissemination of information via a broadcasting system (1, 2) and broadcast terminals (3, 4). An information server (12) is accessible for telecommunication terminals (7) via a telecommunication network (5). A user who hears or sees an interesting primary information block selects it by making a call via his telecommunication terminal (7) to the information server (12). The information server records a selection code and the address of the calling user, and on the basis of the selection code selects a secondary information block and sends it to the user. As selection code a time code can be used, corresponding with the time at which the relevant primary information block was transmitted. If the broadcasting system comprises several broadcast channels etc., the user specifies the particular one by stating a module code or a specific number under which the information server (12) is called up. The address of the user can be derived from the CLI of the telecommunication terminal (7).

  • Publication number: 20040037649
Abstract: Method for installing a duct, a longitudinal member being present along the section over which the duct is to be installed, the longitudinal element present being utilised as a guide for the duct to be installed and the duct being propelled, a tape-shaped element being formed around the existing longitudinal element during the propulsion into a duct closed all around, by coupling to one another coupling means present at the longitudinal edges of the tape-shaped element.

  • Patent number: 6641331
Abstract: Method for installing a duct (2) in the ground, whereby a longitudinal element (1) is already present in the ground near the route along which the duct (2) is to be installed, whereby the existing longitudinal element (1) is used as a guide for the duct (2) to be installed and the duct (2) is pushed into the ground with the aid of a fluid under pressure fed through the duct (2), whereby the duct (2) to be installed is coupled to the existing longitudinal element (1) by at least one divisible coupling piece (3) and whereby the coupling element is advanced along the existing longitudinal element (1) The invention also provides a coupling piece (3) for guiding the duct (2) along the longitudinal element (1).

  • Publication number: 20030198518
Abstract: For installing a cable-duct (1) around a cable (3) buried in the ground the duct is propelled by propelling means (17) which comprise solenoid means (49) and a corresponding core member (53) of a magnetic material, and duct transporting means (47). The core member is provided with coupling means (55) for coupling to the free end of the cable, and the solenoid means are driven by a current as to maintain during operation the free end of the longitudinal member coupled to the core member in a fixed position with respect to the transporting means. The propelling operation is supported by feeding a fluid under pressure through the duct, the foremost end of the duct being provided with a spouting member. Suitable design of the core member in combination with a suitably varying current for driving the solenoid allow more dynamical propelling operation, and consequently better performance.

  • Patent number: 5639183
Abstract: A method for installing a tubular cable-duct around a cable buried in the ground includes steps of freeing a portion of the buried cable from the ground in a forward longitudinal direction of the cable, starting from a free end of the buried cable, and advancing a foremost end of the cable-duct and subsequent portions of the cable-duct in the forward longitudinal direction of the cable over the portion of the cable freed from ground, starting from the free end of the cable. The advancing step includes the sub-steps of exerting pulling forces on the cable with a pulling device engaging the free end of the buried cable in a direction which is substantially opposed to the forward longitudinal direction of the cable, and exerting pushing forces with a pushing device engaging the cable-duct in a direction which is substantially opposed to the direction in which the pulling forces are exerted.
