The assembly includes at least one protective member arrangeable in a protective position relative to the dispensing opening and means for mounting the protective member in the protective position relative to the dispensing opening. The at least one protective member extends substantially from one side of the opening to another side of the opening. The assembly includes means for guiding the number of sheets from a dispensing direction out of the automatic transaction machine to a direction at an angle to this dispensing direction. These guide means form an obstruction to the insertion of an object into the dispensing opening.
