  • Publication number: 20120031143
Abstract: An apparatus and process for removing gaseous contaminants from a feed gas comprising methane and gaseous contaminants, in which the feed gas is cooled to obtain a slurry comprising solid contaminant, liquid contaminant and a methane enriched gaseous phase. The slurry is introduced into a separation device from which the methane enriched gaseous phase is removed. The slurry is diluted with liquid contaminant and passed through a heat exchanger wherein solid contaminant is melted into liquid contaminant. A stream comprising liquid contaminant is removed from the separation device at a position below the slurry level in the separation device by means of a pump and at least part of the removed liquid contaminant is recovered as a stream product and at least part is recycled and introduced into the separation device to dilute the slurry inside the separation device.

  • Patent number: 8105422
Abstract: The invention is a method and cyclonic separator for degassing a fluid mixture comprising a carrier liquid and gaseous or vaporizable components. In this method, the fluid mixture is accelerated in a throat section of a vortex tube such that the static pressure of the fluid mixture is decreased and vaporizable components evaporate into a gaseous phase and the fluid mixture flows as a substantially homogeneously dispersed gas-liquid mixture through the throat section; the accelerated fluid mixture is induced to swirl within a tubular mid section of the vortex tube such that the fluid mixture is separated by centrifugal forces into a degassed liquid fraction and a gas enriched fraction; the degassed liquid fraction is induced to flow into an annular liquid outlet conduit; and the gas enriched fraction is induced to flow into a central gas outlet conduit.

  • Publication number: 20120017853
Abstract: Waste heat boiler (1) being an elongated vessel comprising a co-axial positioned tubular channel (4) for hot gas, said channel further being provided with an inlet (11) for hot gas and an outlet for cooled gas, wherein a gas pathway (6) is defined between said inlet and outlet of said tubular channel and wherein in the gas pathway one or more bundles of tubular cooling surfaces are present, said tubular cooling surfaces (7) positioned co-axial with the channel, wherein the tubular channel is closed at one end (8), thereby forming a gas reversal chamber (9), and wherein the gas inlet is an opening in the wall of the tubular channel positioned between the gas reversal chamber and the gas pathway, wherein the inlet for hot gas is connected to an inlet conduit (11), which conduit is positioned under an angle ? with said tubular channel and wherein at the hot gas inlet in the tubular channel a diverter plate (12) is present.

  • Publication number: 20120006055
Abstract: A process and apparatus for separating at least part of a gaseous product from a feed stream which comprises contaminants. The process comprises: 1) providing the feed stream; 2) cooling the feed stream to a temperature at which a slurry stream is formed which comprises solid contaminant, liquid phase contaminant and the gaseous product; 3) introducing the slurry stream as obtained in step 2) via a plurality of tangentially directed inlet means into an upper part of a separation device, thereby creating a swirl of the slurry stream which allows at least part of the gaseous product to flow upwardly and solid contaminant and liquid phase contaminant to flow downwardly; 4) removing at least part of the gaseous product from the upper part of the device; and 5) removing a stream comprising liquid phase contaminant from a lower part of the device.

  • Publication number: 20090205488
Abstract: A method and cyclonic separator are disclosed for degassing a fluid mixture comprising a carrier liquid and gaseous and/or vaporizable components, wherein: the fluid mixture is accelerated in a throat section (6, 21) of a vortex tube (1, 20) such that the static pressure of the fluid mixture is decreased and vaporizable components evaporate into a gaseous phase and the fluid mixture flows as a substantially homogeneously dispersed gas-liquid mixture through the throat section; the accelerated fluid mixture is induced to swirl within a tubular mid section of the vortex tube such that the fluid mixture is separated by centrifugal forces into a degassed liquid fraction and a gas enriched fraction; the degassed liquid fraction is induced to flow into a annular liquid outlet conduit (4, 21); and the gas enriched fraction is induced to flow into a central gas outlet conduit (3, 24).
