Abstract: This document describes a method for preparing narrative content, particularly for presentation as a multi-sensory experience including audio and visual effects and the like. The method involves stripping details from the narrative content and replacing some of them with sensory effects so as to avoid providing too much detail. The method should enable content designers to better adapt content to be expressed on modern storytelling devices. A system is described to assist with the transformation and suggested output devices are also presented.

Abstract: This invention relates to compositions of one or more compounds that incorporate one or more allyl sulfide, allyl disulfide or allyl polysulfide moieties, or one or more allyl sulfide, allyl disulfide or allyl polysulfide moieties and one or more hydroxyl groups, used in effective amount in formulations, including emulsions, to repel blood-feeding ectoparasitic arthropods, including mosquitoes, and to deter them from landing and feeding when applied to the skin, clothing or environment of animals, including humans. Said compounds can include, but are not limited to, 8-allyl-sulfanyloctan-1-ol. This invention also relates to compositions comprising one or more of said compounds in further combination with other arthropod repellent and deterrent compounds, including vanillin. These compounds may be formulated with inert ingredients to form a liquid, gel, paste, soap, spray, aerosol or powder.

Abstract: A flood control gate having one or more deflectors on a backside surface of the gate for reducing hydraulic forces acting upon the gate when the gate is raised in a water body. The gate may have a front side surface configured to prevent fluids from passing through the gate. The deflector may be attached to a backside surface of the gate proximate to a bottom surface. A transition may be located at an intersection of the backside surface and the bottom surface to further facilitate movement of the gate in a water body.

Abstract: An ornament bearing a personalized message and method of making the same. The personalized message is applied to a label and the label is applied to a message surface on the ornament. The labels bearing personalized messages may be generated at the point-of-sale by the retailer, or by the purchaser after purchase. A computerized system may be used to generate the labels.
