  • Patent number: 5847029
Abstract: A process for the preparation of composition board, particleboard, fiberboard, waferboard and oriented strandboard as well as new and useful products thereof are provided for by the separation of one portion of the solid constituents of the composition board and the separate blending of that portion with adhesive before combining and mixing that portion with the remaining solid constituents of the composition board product. The method and product is particularly adapted to the use of fines as the one portion of the solid component of composition board and utilizing the precoated fines as an adhesive carrier in the final step of mixing or blending of the fines with the remaining composition board components.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5692831
Abstract: A blender mixing shaft and a high speed transport and mixing tool combination wherein the blender mixing shaft has a sidewall and a hollow interior and at least one transverse opening provided through the sidewall with an elongated, hollow, transport and mixing tool attached to a flat surface segment thereof and, in sealed fluid communication with the hollow mixing shaft. The mixing tool is provided with an exterior surface including a mixing shaft attachment end and a triangular plow shaped terminating end with the area therebetween comprising a substantially uniform triangular cross-section along its length. The triangular shaped length has a base side with two sides extending from the base side to form an apex for the triangular shaped length.

  • Patent number: 5626421
Abstract: A blender construction employing a unitary cylindrical body and removable, semicircular segmented, end cap closures wherein a unitary blender body includes an inlet chute at a first end and an exit chute at a second end. A centrally disposed hollow mixing shaft extends through the segmented end caps and is provided with diametrically disposed hollow mixing fingers spaced therealong positioned within the blender body. A high pressure heat exchange fluid source connects the blender, through tubing extending through one of the segmented end caps and, along the interior length of the blender housing. The heat exchange fluid is expelled from openings therein aligned with each of the mixing tool hollow interiors. The blender housing is supported on a platform that also supports the end bearings for the rotating blender shaft. A drive wheel is keyed to the hollow rotating blender shaft at one end thereof to connect with a suitable drive power supply.

  • Patent number: 5232281
Abstract: A water cooled blender door having an inside surface and an outside surface and a tapered edge having a taper away from the inside surface to the outside surface to provide a reduced area of contact for material flowing around the tapered edge which in combination with said water cooling allows condensate to form on the tapered edge to prevent materials from sticking to the blender door. A gap is also provided between the tapered edge and the blender door housing to prevent the build up of sticky matrix materials such as sticky wood particles. The cooling water typically at 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit causes a water condensate to form on the door surface and edge. The water condensate often results from the warm moisture laden air in the blender and prevents sticking of the resin coated particles to the surface and edges of the novel door.
