  • Patent number: 7553259
Abstract: An exercise device has a central grip with a first and second end. Three peripheral handles are symmetrically disposed around a central grip. Each peripheral handle has first and second radial portions extending from the first and second ends of the central grip, and a peripheral grip portion disposed between is respective radial portions. The peripheral grip portions are parallel to the central grip. The central grip has three partially flattened sides respectively facing each of the three peripheral grip portions. The junction of any two sides forms a curved edge that fits comfortably in the joint of a human finger. The peripheral distance around the central grip is two to three times the peripheral distance around a peripheral grip portion. In various exercises, users can grip a peripheral grip portion by one hand, use both hands to grasp adjacent peripheral grip portions, or grasp the central grip.

  • Publication number: 20040198567
Abstract: The present invention uses an inertial force exercise device comprised of an ergonomically snug grip handle bar, racking collars on either side of the handle including head plates in combination with a storage racking system that enables appropriate mating with the racking collars of the inertial force exercise device. The racking collars are comprised of a circumferential groove that mate with a “U” shaped spaces or openings on the racking storage unit. This way, the outer surfaces of the dense extremities of the exercise device are not exposed to the rack to become damaged. The invention therefore isolates the outer surfaces on the dense extremities of the exercise device from physically contacting the storage rack. The storage system is also space efficient because the slots need not be configured to accommodate the largest size dense extremity, but only the racking collars of the exercise device.

  • Publication number: 20040072662
Abstract: Stackable weight plates comprised of a front and a rear lateral faces with a protrusion at a proximal radial center of the front lateral face and corresponding recess at a proximal radial center of the rear lateral face is provided. The rear lateral face with the recess section at the proximal radial center of a top weight plate in a stack may rest (or be stacked) on the front lateral face with the protrusion at a proximal radial center of another weight plate. Because each plate is restrained along its center axis by the mating or interlocking of the protruded area of one plate with the recessed area of another weight plate, the stacked plates are therefore generally stable and do not fall due to lateral shearing of the stack. When mounted on a handle bar to form an inertial force exercise device, the recessed area of the rear lateral face of the weight plates of the present invention house the mounting or fastener mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6702723
Abstract: A weight plate having rotatable handles is disclosed. By rotating, the handles provide a sure grip to the user, while allowing the user to perform various exercises without adjusting his or her grip on the device. The handles also facilitate the safe loading and unloading of the device on plate-loaded exercise equipment. The weight plate may thus be used as a stand-alone exercise device, as a weight plate loaded onto a barbell or dumbbell bar, or as a weight plate used on plate-loaded exercise equipment.

  • Publication number: 20030083179
Abstract: A weight lifting plate is provided with a pair of diametrically opposed hand grips on each side of the plate, each hand grip formed by recessed surfaces in each side surface of the plate and a portion of the side surface which together provide a hand grip, such that the weight plate can be grabbed and lifted from either side thereof while the plate is resting against a flat surface such as the floor or against another adjacent weight plate.

  • Patent number: 6099443
Abstract: An improved dumbbell having a bar with permanently and securely attached weighted heads is disclosed. A pin passing through a bore in the weighted heads and each end of the bar holds the weighted heads securely in place. The weighted heads have a circumference of circular shape, and are coated with a resilient material. The exterior surface of the resilient material has a multi-sided circumference. The circular shape of the circumference of the weighted heads prevents the weighted heads from digging into the resilient coating when the dumbbell is in use or is dropped.

  • Patent number: 5697871
Abstract: A combination dumbbell and jump rope with interchangeable weight units is disclosed. Various weights may be quickly and easily attached or detached from the handles by pushing a button on the end of the weight unit. When pushed, the button releases ball bearings that lock the weight unit into grooves on the handle. The jump rope length is easily adjustable to accommodate each individual user by retracting a portion of the rope inside the hollow rope handles. Retraction is accomplished by the release of a variable-length clamping mechanism. When closed, the clamping mechanism presses ball bearings against the jump rope cable to hold it firmly in place. When released, the rope may move freely within a jump rope cable guide for length adjustment.
