  • Patent number: 9121582
Abstract: An LED light fixture including a plurality of upwardly-protruding elongate fins extending therealong from distal fin-ends to proximal fin-ends adjacent to upward-flow openings through the fixture, the fins defining horizontal between-fin channels open at the distal fin-ends, and a plurality of flow-interrupters between adjacent fins changing air flow along the channels. The flow-interrupters may be less than half the heights of their respective between-fin channels and may be mounting bosses to serve the further purpose of facilitating assembly of the fixture.

  • Publication number: 20140126206
Abstract: A lens for distribution of light from a light emitter having an emitter axis. The lens includes an inner surface defining an inner cavity and including a substantially cross-sectionally convex inner region along an open end of the inner cavity and a substantially cross-sectionally linear inner region joining the substantially cross-sectionally convex inner region and extending therefrom toward the emitter axis. The convex region is configured for refracting emitter light rays toward the emitter axis. The lens further includes an outer surface receiving the light from each of the inner regions. A lens flange surrounds the lens and has an outer flange surface extending radially outwardly from the lens outer surface at positions axially spaced from the light emitter. The convex inner region is configured to refract emitter light to the outer surface such that the outer flange surface is substantially free from receiving any emitter light.

  • Publication number: 20130250575
Abstract: A unitary lens comprising a plurality of lens members aligned substantially along a preferential/non-preferential line. Each lens member being elongate across the preferential/non-preferential line with all elongate lens members being in substantially same orientation and each configured for light to exit the unitary lens predominantly toward the preferential side. Each lens member includes an elongate opening for receiving light from a group of emitters aligned across the preferential/non-preferential line; a refracting inner surface forming a void and having a racetrack-shaped surrounding surface extending from the opening to a substantially planar elongate end surface; and a lateral surface having opposed preferential and non-preferential surface portions, the non-preferential portion being at an angle to the base plane which is greater than the angle of the preferential portion to the base plane.

  • Publication number: 20120281404
Abstract: LED lighting apparatus including (1) a plurality of primary lenses each over a corresponding one of LED arrays spaced on a circuit board, and (2) a one-piece lensing member over the circuit board and having a plurality of secondary lenses each spaced over one of the primary lenses on the circuit board, the circuit board and lensing member having first and second mating features positioned and configured for inter-engagement for high-precision lens alignment. The circuit board and one-piece lensing member are each joined to a mounting surface of a heat-conductive member, and such assembly, while facilitating high-efficiency assembly, does not interfere with high-precision lens alignment.

  • Patent number: 7261436
Abstract: A method for implementing lighting utilizes a lighting fixture having a plurality of lateral reflector positions, including selectively installing a first type reflector panel or a second type reflector panel in individual ones of the plurality of lateral reflector positions, the first type reflector panel having a greater uplighting capacity compared to the second type reflector panel, whereby the selectively installing determines, for the lighting fixture, a proportion of uplight versus downlight. For a plurality of tube positions disposed in a plane, a method may include vertically positioning a reflector assembly with respect to the plane. Individual reflector panels may be replaced by flexing the panel. A method may include providing a sensor switch operative to detect an occupant and connect an electrical path when the occupant is detected, and providing a selector for selecting ones of the ballasts to be connected to the electrical path by the sensor switch.

  • Patent number: 7207690
Abstract: A method, for implementing lighting by utilizing a lighting fixture having a plurality of laterally-spaced light source locations and corresponding lateral reflector positions, may include selectively installing a reflector of a first type or a second type in respective ones of the plurality of lateral reflector positions, the first type reflector having greater uplighting capacity compared to the second type reflector, whereby the selectively installing determines a proportion of uplight versus downlight. For a plurality of tube positions disposed in a plane, a method may include vertically positioning a reflector assembly with respect to the plane.
