  • Patent number: 11259898
Abstract: An orthodontic device and, in particular, an orthodontic bracket that is slidable along a wire without external forces is provided. The device may include a first and second gear, each of which are independently movable between a locked position in which the gear is prevented from rotation, and a released configuration in which the gear extends into the channel to engage a wire received within the channel and is rotatable to move the device along the wire. The first gear may be rotatable to move the device in a first direction while the second gear may be rotatable to move the device in a second direction opposite the first direction. Thus, the first and second gears have the ability to move along the wire in short or long distances, as desired.

  • Patent number: 11197741
Abstract: An orthodontic bracket may include a housing portion having a first channel extending from a first end to a second end through the housing portion. The first channel is configured to slidably receive an archwire therethrough. The bracket also include a body portion configured to be received within the housing portion. The housing portion is configured to rotatably mount to the body portion about a first axis and a second axis. The first axis may be in an apico-coronal direction of the tooth. The second axis may be in a buccopalatal direction of the tooth. The bracket further includes a base portion configured to attach to a surface of the tooth. The body portion is configured to slidably mount on the base portion along the apico-coronal direction of the tooth.

  • Publication number: 20210128897
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device. The device includes an elongate handle having a proximal end and a distal end; a head portion extending from the proximal end of the elongate handle, the head portion having a first interior-facing surface and an opposing second exterior-facing surface; and a plurality of microneedles extending from, and perpendicular to, the first interior-facing surface of the head portion. Each of the plurality of microneedles has a base connected to the first interior-facing surface of the head portion and a free tip end. The present invention also relates to a method for stimulation of cortical bone formation using the device of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20210051962
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a coating with anti-adhesive properties (in order to repel or prevent bacterial or platelet adhesion) based on a naturally produced polymer. This polymer that has been extensively characterized and is produced by a marine bacterium—Cyanothece sp. CCY 0110, at optimized production conditions to obtain increased amounts of polymer. Importantly, this strain is among the highly efficient polymer producers, secreting the polymer directly to the media, allowing the easy recovery of polymer with few purification steps, being a cost-effective product. The coating can be applied to medical devices or medical implants to prevent biofilm mediated infections thereof.
