Abstract: An internally powered pump is surgically implanted to eject liquid under control of the experimenter. The pump reservoir is flexible and contains the liquid to be ejected. The reservoir is collapsed by a piston which is pushed by a compressed spring. The spring is released, step-by-step, by a pawl and ratchet mechanism. The pawl is magnetically responsive and pivots when a magnetic field is applied to the pump.
