  • Patent number: 8533907
Abstract: A flexible accessory tool for a vacuum appliance is described, comprising an elongated body with a body portion having an attachment end, a nozzle end spaced apart from the attachment end and having an opening formed therein, and a flexible intermediate region for imparting flexibility to the accessory tool during use. The flexible intermediate region is made up of a rigid skeleton portion having a one or more ribs and support struts, over which a layer of non air-permeable flexible material is applied. During use, the flexible accessory tool may be bent to extreme angles in order to reach and clean debris from hard to reach areas, while not suffering from a decrease in vacuum air flow through the tool as it flexes.

  • Patent number: 6986370
Abstract: A table saw apparatus including an extendable table. The table saw also includes a rip fence with a constant alignment spring finger to ensure alignment at all times between the rip fence and the table saw blade. The table saw further includes a self-adjusting rip fence scale associated with the extending portion of the table. The table saw further includes a self-aligning blade guard that, once adjusted a first time, ensures alignment between the blade guard and the blade on any subsequent installations of the guard. • Patent number: 6502493
Abstract: A table saw includes a work support table that defines a blade slot therethrough and at least one guide groove oriented generally parallel to the slot. A pair of trunnions are attached to the lower surface of the work support table, with at least one of the trunnions defining an adjustment opening having opposing sides. A cradle assembly has a blade mounted therein driven by a motor, and it is supported by the trunnions such that at least a portion of the blade extends through the slot in the work support surface. To provide adjustment of the blade heel, an adjustment member is received by the adjustment opening in the trunnion and is rotatably attached to the lower surface of the work support table. Rotation of the adjustment member causes the adjustment member to contact one of the opposing sides of the adjustment opening, thus moving the trunnion to adjust the position of the blade relative to the guide groove.

  • Patent number: 5730434
Abstract: A miter saw clamp accessory to facilitate vertical and/or horizontal clamping of a workpiece against a supporting worktable and fence is disclosed. The miter saw clamp accessory includes a pair of extension rods extending laterally outwardly from one end of a frame with a clamp support mounted on such extension rods. A clamp shaft is adapted to be mounted in a top opening of the clamp support for vertical clamping or in a side opening of the clamp support for horizontal clamping of the workpiece. A clamp assembly is mounted on the clamp shaft and includes a connecting arm for adjustable mounting of a clamping arm having a workpiece clamp at one end that is arranged for confronting opposed positioning relative to the frame for vertical clamping or to the fence for horizontal clamping of the workpiece. A miter saw crown molding jig accessory is also disclosed for mounting on a miter saw frame.

  • Patent number: 4677920
Abstract: An adjustable side extension for a work table of a power tool (e.g., a direct drive table saw) is disclosed in which the side extension may be readily adjustably movable with respect to the work table so that the work surface of the work table and the side extension are general coplanar, and such that one edge of both the work table and the side extension are in line with one another. Other than the fasteners required to secure the side extension to the work table, no other loose parts, such as shims, washers, slide cam blocks or the like, are required to adjust the side extension with respect to the work table.

  • Patent number: 4616541
Abstract: A scroll or jigsaw of the walking beam type is disclosed in which the upper and lower beams or arms are of hollow, tubular construction so as to have sufficient rigidity to resist up and down vibrational movement, and so as to permit lateral cutting. The beams are mounted in a pair of identical die cast frame members, and the drive motor is mounted directly to the rear of the frame members. The motor is connected to the rear ends of the beams for reciprocably driving them. The frame members, together with the motor, are pivotally mounted relative to a base or table frame thereby to permit angling of the saw blade (as opposed to tilting the table) for bevel cuts.

  • Patent number: 4599927
Abstract: A tool elevation and bevel adjustment machanism for a direct drive power tool (e.g., a direct drive table saw) is disclosed in which the power tool's drive motor is mounted on a plate which is pivotally suspended below the work table of the power tool. A working tool (e.g., a circular saw blade) is mounted on the rotor shaft of the motor. The plate with the motor mounted thereon is selectively pivotal with respect to the work table by means of a screw linkage such that the plate, together with the tool, may be selectively adjusted with respect to the table such that the tool is either perpendicular to the work table or is at a desired bevel angle with respect to the work table. Additionally, the motor is pivotally mounted on the plate for arcuate movement with respect to the plate.

  • Patent number: 4428520
Abstract: A feed mechanism for feeding a work piece to a tool includes a control system for monitoring feed operation. The feed mechanism includes at least one vise movable with respect to a support structure to advance a work piece. The amount of movement permitted the movable vise is adjustable by a coarse and fine adjustment system employing simplified structure for setting the stop defining the movable vise start feed position. The movable vise is driven by a mechanism interconnected to the movable vise by a pin and slot arrangement which permits the vise to accommodate warped work pieces. Preferably, the feed mechanism includes a second fixed vise, one jaw of which is adjustable to permit parallel alignment of vise jaws forming the fixed vise. The control system employs a manifold having a mounting surface for interconnecting various ones of the devices operating the feed at a central, programmable location.

  • Patent number: 4364294
Abstract: A horizontal power band saw having a frame fabricated of rigid weldments (as opposed to castings) thereby to appreciably lower the cost of the band saw. A system is disclosed for accurately pivotally mounting the saw head on the saw bed, for adjusting the pivotal axis of the head parallel to the bed, and for positively holding the head in desired relation with the bed so as to enable the head to be repeatedly and accurately raised and lowered while the blade of the saw is held in a plane generally perpendicular to the bed. The saw blade is tensioned in such a manner that a desired tension load can be accurately applied to the blade and so that the tension load on the blade can be accurately read out.
