A rod having a first end and a second end is coupled to the base at the first end. The rod is disposed in a substantially upright position. The second end of the rod permits an ornament such as at least one of a medallion and a flag to be coupled to the second end of the rod. A kit for the memorial marker and a related method for memorializing a deceased individual are also provided.
