  • Patent number: 9835614
Abstract: System and Method for measuring the growth of a bacterial culture and its response to one or more antimicrobials using measurement of mass of individual microbes. Methods include periodic sampling, determining change in mass and concentration, and comparing growth rates of cultures in nutrient broth vs. mixtures containing various antibiotic mixtures. A number of antimicrobials can be compared in one measurement by multiplexing or using multiple sensors to measure in parallel. Growth and antibiotic efficacy can be assessed at low concentrations at the onset of growth, typically within 1 to 2 hours.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2014
Date of Patent: December 5, 2017
    Assignee: Affinity Biosensors, LLC
    Inventors: Ken Babcock, Cynthia Schneider

  • Patent number: 7121030
Abstract: A framing system for mounting photographs, artwork, documents, etc. on a flat surface, such as a wall includes a molding or wall strip and an envelope having a clear front panel, with the envelope slidably engageable into the molding strip. The molding strip includes a slot, and the envelope includes an upper edge having a configuration matching the slot. The object to be displayed is placed into the envelope, and then the envelope slides into engagement with the molding strip.

  • Patent number: 5522621
Abstract: A tread or cover for an in-line skate provides a walking surface to enable the skater to traverse unpaved areas, stairs, or steep grades. The cover is formed like a sheath which stretchably fits over the in-line skate wheels. The cover is at least slightly elastic and flexible, preferably having rubber walls. A tread pattern on the bottom surface of the cover increases traction. A strap on the cover is used to better secure the cover over the skate wheels.
