In that regard, each one of the selection controls can correspond to one of the user input fields. Finally, at least one primary user input field can be disposed in the primary display region. Specifically, the at least one primary user input field can include a user input field in the secondary display region whose corresponding selection control has been activated.

Abstract: A method (and system) for editing rules contained in a first document, where the rules define a transformation of data on a second document and where the first document and second document have elements constructed in a tree structure having nodes, each rule having a template structure including at least one match condition, the match condition being an expression in the template that describes a subset of tree nodes, includes selecting at least one rule in the first document and checking a match condition of the user-selected rule with the tree nodes from the second document to determine which structures in the second document match the selected rule.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for indicating the current ancestor hierarchy in a graphical user interface while scrolling through a tree structure. A determination is made as to the current ancestor hierarchy of an item displayed in a designated section of the tree structure. The designated section of the tree structure may be the topmost, bottommost, or any other file or directory displayed in the pane. When user searches for files or folders by scrolling through data displayed in a tree structure, a new item may be displayed in the designated section of the tree structure. As a result, the ancestor hierarchy display is updated with the current ancestor hierarchy for the item in the designated section of the tree structure.

Abstract: A user interface mechanism that introduces a novel concept referred to as a “non-overlapping workspace”. A system user can switch between the traditional overlapping workspace and the novel non-overlapping workspace, depending upon how they wish to move and manage objects in the workspace. In the non-overlapping mode, as the user moves a selected object to relocate it within the work area, as its border touches another object, the selected object pushes the other object (rather than cover it). In an alternative embodiment, when the system is in the non-overlapping mode, objects on the desktop have “sticky” borders, that is, as the border of a selected object comes into contact with the border of another object, the two objects are coupled to each other as though they were glued together, forming an “object unit”.

Attributes not configured for any item contained within the set may be displayed in the user interface so as to indicate their status as not configured for any item within the set.
