Abstract: A method for making a fiber board includes the steps of, providing a fiber sheet and positioning the fiber sheet in a mold, providing at least one plastic sheet and locating the plastic sheet on a surface of the fiber sheet. Heating and melting the plastic sheet to make the molten plastic penetrate into the fiber sheet, and hot pressing the fiber sheet and the molten plastic to form the fiber board. A fiber board made by the method is also described.

Abstract: A voice coil motor for a disk drive unit includes an external magnet and an actuator coil movably located above the external magnet. The external magnet has a main body with a magnetic north pole, a magnetic south pole and a transition surface therebetween, and further has a protrusion extending from the center part of the main body for increasing torque force, thereby improving the performance of the voice coil motor. The invention also discloses a disk drive unit including the same.

Abstract: A decorative article includes a plastic film, a metallic layer located on the plastic film, and a decorative ink layer located on the metallic layer. The metallic layer contains silicon oxygen bonds. The decorative ink layer contains polyester ink and siloxane coupling agent. A device housing using the decorative article is also described.

Abstract: A resin-and-fiber includes a base layer and a molded layer integrally bonding the base layer. The base layer includes a fiber layer made of fiber woven fabric and a resin layer made of transparent or translucent resin. The fiber layer has a first surface and an opposite second surface. The resin layer bonds the first surface and penetrating into the fiber layer. The molded layer is made of resin and integrally bonding the second surface of the fiber layer. A method for making the present resin-and-fiber composite is also provided.

Abstract: A durable cover with a soft surface device (100) includes a substrate (10), an intermediate layer (20), an ink coating (30), and a top coating (40). The intermediate layer is made of a polyurethane paint. The ink coating contains a polyurethane component. The top coating is made of a polyurethane adhesive. The intermediate layer is applied onto the substrate, the ink coating is formed on the surface of the intermediate layer, and the top layer is formed on the surface of the ink coating and the intermediate layer. The presence of polyurethane in the intermediate layer, the ink coating, and the top coating promotes partial cross-linking therebetween and, thus, helps improve the durability of the cover. Further, the polyurethane contributes positively to the overall softness and flexibility of the cover.

Abstract: An actuator driving mechanism and a method of manufacture for that mechanism are disclosed. In one embodiment, the actuator driving mechanism includes a statically located stator generating a variable magnetic field to act upon a mobile rotator generating a permanent magnetic field. In a further embodiment, the stator includes a set of driving coils to generate the variable magnetic field and the rotator includes a permanent magnet coupled to a holding frame.
