  • Publication number: 20080162124
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transmitter and a receiver for speech coding and decoding by using an additional bit allocation method. The transmitter and the receiver according to the present invention realize a voice communication service of high quality by using additional bits permitted in system requirements while using a conventional speech coder as it is. In addition, the transmitter and the receiver according to the present invention have an advantage in that they enable insertion of additional quantization blocks while not changing the structure of the conventional standard speech coder, since they allocate additional bits by applying a multi-stage quantization procedure not in a speech signal domain but in a parameter domain.

  • Publication number: 20080025387
Abstract: A network-based mobile robot is provided. The mobile robot includes a video encoder, a bit rate analysis unit, an inference unit, and a switch unit. The video encoder encodes an image with a variable bit rate to output bitstreams in a frame unit. The bit rate analysis unit analyzes a size of the bitstreams per frame from the video encoder. The inference unit infers a bitstream output start point and end point by comparing the size of the bitstreams to a predetermined reference value based on the analyzing result and determines whether an object in the bitstreams per frame moves or not. The switch unit selectively starts and ends the inputted image output operation to an internal image processing processor and the bitstream output operation to a remote server that is connected via a network and perform image processing, based on the inferring result of the inference unit.

  • Patent number: 7112939
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile system and a moving method of the mobile system. According to the present invention, a natural period is measured from a vibration component signal generated by a force due to acceleration/deceleration of wheels, and the mobile system moves by applying an acceleration profile containing an acceleration period or a deceleration period based on the natural period. Therefore, the acceleration profile based on the natural period is applied such that vibration that is visible to a user is not generated during acceleration and deceleration of the mobile system. As a result, quality of the mobile system is improved.

  • Publication number: 20040176951
Abstract: A line spectral frequency (LSF) coefficient vector quantizer greatly affects wideband speech coding efficiency and performance. An LSF coefficient quantizer of an existing speech codec can be modified into a new structure in which a non-structural vector quantizer and a lattice quantizer are connected in series. Thus, memory capacity and search time required for the LSF coefficient quantizer can be reduced. In addition, a prediction structure and a non-prediction structure can be connected in parallel to stably perform quantization and reduce a quantization transfer error. As a result, an efficient LSF quantizer capable of reducing allocated bits and improving SD can be provided. Moreover, non-structural vector quantization can be performed prior to pyramid vector quantization to convert an input value into a Laplacian model suitable for a pyramid vector quantizer.

  • Publication number: 20040167776
Abstract: An apparatus and method for shaping the speech signal in consideration of its energy distribution. The shaping apparatus includes an encoder for receiving and encoding an unvoiced speech or background noise, dividing it into frequency bands according to its characteristics, performing comparison of energies of the frequency bands, and setting energy intensity flags according to the comparison result; and a decoder for shaping the data encoded by the encoder and the energy intensity flags. The present invention employs the shaping method in consideration of characteristics of the original input speech signal, and uses the shaping filter only using information about energy distribution without adding a large amount of bits to the signal that is difficult to synthesize, such as an unvoiced speech and background noise.
