Abstract: A method of treating metabolic endotoxemia comprising identifying a subject having post-prandial dietary endotoxemia and administering an effective amount of a spore-based probiotic. While any spore-based probiotic may be used, the probiotic supplement may comprise Bacillus indicus (HU36), Bacillus subtilis (HU58), Bacillus coagulans, Bacillus licheniformis, and Bacillus clausii. One or more of a level of blood endotoxin, triglyceride, post-prandial insulin, post-prandial ghrelin level, MCP-1, GM-CSF, IL-12p70, IL-13, IL-1beta, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, and TNF-? is observed as being lower after spore-based probiotic supplementation when compared to placebo. At least one of post-prandial leptin and IL-10 is observed as being higher after spore-based probiotic supplementation when compared to placebo.

Abstract: The invention relates to Vitamin K, its derivatives and combinations to increase the energy levels in diverse disease states and life style disorders, which are characterized by low energy level due to inadequate VO2max, and pO2 and low availability of ATP molecules. VO2max, peak oxygen uptake, is intimately connected to several diseases and life style disorders such as Metabolically Obese but Normal Weight (MONW), Overweight/Obese, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, hypertension, cerebral vascular insufficiency, immune deficient states, cancer, aging-related disorders, reduced cardiopulmonary reserves and muscular fitness in athletics, high altitude climbing and exercise. The invention discloses that innovative blends of components that, in unique combination, synergistically bestow enhancement of VO2max leading to higher energy level, less fatigability and energy adaptations to stressful stimuli in humans and animals.

Abstract: A modular luminaire consists of a rectangular housing having a top, first and second sides and first and second ends, with an open light-emitting bottom. Elongated reflector members are located in a side-by-side relationship in the housing for independently reflecting the light from a compact fluorescent lamp from each of the reflector members out of the open bottom of the housing. The reflector members may be made as a single unit or as separate, independent individual units. The edges of the separate, individual reflector members are made to releaseably interconnect with one another; so that any desired number of reflector members and corresponding compact fluorescent lamps may be mounted in a side-by-side relationship in housings of different widths to provide the desired amount of light. Fixtures are designed to replace HID lamps and conventional, low efficiency fluorescent lamp luminaires.
