Publication number: 20140034316Abstract: A shearing device that torsionally shears an oilfield tubular by gripping the tubular at vertically spaced apart locations and exerting a torsional force at the locations. Tong assemblies are provided for gripping the tubular, where the tong assemblies include a tong member pivotally mounted on a tong arm. The tong assemblies may be housed in a blowout preventer mounted on a wellhead assembly; projecting the tong assemblies radially inward engages the tong members with the tubular, and moving the arm further radially inward imparts the torsional force onto the tubular. In an alternate embodiment, the shearing device includes holding rams that project radially inward to engage the tubular and a torque rack that tangentially engages the tubular thereby torqueing the tubular.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2012Publication date: February 6, 2014Applicant: HYDRIL USA MANUFACTURING LLCInventor: Eric Dale Larson

Patent number: 5892766Abstract: Arbitration apparatus and method coordinate access to an output of a routing device in a packet switching network. Access to the output is granted to requests having the highest priority in a current arbitration cycle. For requests having the same priority, access is granted to the first of such requests received. Before granting a request, the arbitration apparatus ensures a receiving input buffer has sufficient space for a data packet, as well as any higher priority traffic.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1996Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: Fujitsu, Ltd.Inventors: Thomas Martin Wicki, Jeffrey Dale Larson, Albert Mu

Patent number: 5644604Abstract: A system and method for transferring data between clock domains operating at substantially the same frequency continuously compares the relationship between a delayed data phase signal driven by a non-delayed source domain clock and a data phase signal sampled by a delayed receiving domain clock. The result of the comparison determines along which one of multiple data paths within the synchronizing circuit the transfer of the data frame will take place. Several data paths with different delays (at least two) transfer the data frame and clock signals. An XNOR comparator responds to the relationship between a delayed data phase signal driven by a non-delayed source domain clock and a data phase signal sampled by a delayed receiving domain clock to determine which one of the multiple data paths transfers the data frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1994Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: Hal Computer Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey Dale Larson
