  • Patent number: 4847532
Abstract: A tensed shadow mask assembly is adapted for repeated precise registration relative to a display screen in order to facilitate processing of the phosphor deposits on the display screen, wherein the registration of the shadow mask relative to the display screen is unaffected by the subsequent permanent sealing of the CRT. A display panel (36) is associated with the CRT faceplate (26) and has an outer edge (38) and a surface that carries a pattern of cathodoluminescent phosphor deposits (44). A rigid band (48) is permanently fastened around the outer edge of the display panel (36). A shadow mask frame (56) having a tensed shadow mask (58) fastened thereto is removably mounted to the band (48). The shadow mask frame (56) and band (48) carry registration mechanisms (70, 72, 76, 78) for orienting the frame (56) at a predetermined position relative to the band (48) (hence, relative to the display panel (36)) whenever the frame (56) is mounted to the band (48).

  • Patent number: 4758785
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the pressure exerted on a probe in an integrated circuit testing station is disclosed. The apparatus is mounted to a support structure within the station directly above the probe. The testing station further includes a motorized lift system for moving an integrated circuit upward against the probe for testing. The invention uses a pressure pad positioned directly above the probe which is attached to the support structure using a resilient member. Associated with the pad is an electrical contact system connected to the lift system. As the lift system moves the circuit upward, it contacts the probe which pushes against the pad. Movement of the probe and circuit against the pad permits secure engagement of the probe with the circuit. As the circuit continues to move upward, the pad is urged upward, causing the electrical contact system to deactivate the lift system before damage to the probe occurs.

  • Patent number: 4605879
Abstract: A cathode-ray tube shadow mask mounting system that allows the mask to be removed from the faceplate and replaced in exactly the same position as it occupied before removal includes screw-receiving inserts permanently embedded in the inner surface of the faceplate outside the viewing area of the display screen. Tubular screw guides are secured to the shadow mask frame in corresponding positions, the guides and the inserts having complementary beveled surfaces for drawing them into alignment when a screw is inserted through the guide and threaded into the insert.

  • Patent number: 4547695
Abstract: A shadow mask assembly for a cathode-ray tube. The shadow mask assembly includes a taut shadow mask membrane affixed to one edge of a closed frame. The frame is angled inwardly from the edge for increased resistance to buckling. Mounting clips generally aligned with the tube axis are secured to the frame inwardly of the outer edge and project outwardly thereof into engagement with locating holes in the envelope. The clips are deflected inwardly behind the outer edge for disengagement and to permit assembly of the shadow mask into an envelope having an inside dimension close to the outside dimension of the frame.
