  • Patent number: 7472187
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments describe methods and systems for managing the communications and information resources of a user. When a request for data is received, a message log is queried for the data. The message log tracks both wireline communications and electronic communications sent to and received by the user. A result of the query is then communicated.

  • Patent number: 7464139
Abstract: A method for displaying content of a time-sensitive e-mail message to a recipient, wherein the content displayed is based on when the recipient opens the time-sensitive e-mail message. A sender of the time-sensitive e-mail message establishes content and a rule set for delivering the e-mail message. The rule set contains a predefined time limit for allowing the recipient of the time-sensitive e-mail message to open it. If the recipient opens the time-sensitive e-mail message within the predefined time limit, the content within the e-mail is delivered to the recipient. If, however, the recipient fails to open the time-sensitive e-mail message within the predefined time limit, then the time-sensitive e-mail message is either deleted from the recipient's mailbox or an alternative message is displayed.

  • Patent number: 7454005
Abstract: A method and system for creating automated voice response menus for telecommunications services includes the creation of a task for the menu. The menu includes a group of pre-recorded messages assembled in manner to complete the task. The menu retrieves certain required inputs and certain optional inputs from a subscriber of the telecommunications service. The menu does not permit the user to provide other inputs or to select other menus. Instead, the menu uses straight-line processing to direct the user towards task completion. Once the task is complete, the user is immediately exited from the system.

  • Patent number: 7451184
Abstract: Embodiments, among others, of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for providing child protection in communication services. Briefly described, in architecture, some embodiments of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. A user interface for a communications service is configured to provide an operation that is restricted from being performed by a user of a communication suite or persona of a child type. The communication suite has at least one communications account of the user for the communications service. Accordingly, logic is provided that determines if the user of a communication suite of the child type is attempting to perform the operation. Other systems and methods are provided.

  • Patent number: 7444381
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for compressing data communicated in an electronic message. Files attached to an electronic communication are compressed based on an examination of the file type; and an identification of an alternative compressed file type. Accordingly, the first (original) file type is compressed into a second preferred, compressed file type for the purpose of streamlining the package to be delivered in the communication.

  • Patent number: 7444382
Abstract: The present invention provides an e-mail communications system that minimizes the number of duplicate copies of common attachment files to e-mail communications that are stored in the mail store of an e-mail server. When the e-mail server receives an e-mail attachment file that is larger than a threshold size, the server performs a database search for another copy of the attachment file in the mail store. If another copy is located, the system creates a pointer in the mail store that associates the located attachment file with the e-mail for the additional recipient(s). Attachment files are deleted only after the recipients of the associated e-mail communications delete each of the respective e-mails.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for creating a message log. The message log tracks non-recorded communications sent by and received by a user. One such system, for example, includes a processor communicating with memory. A communications manager is stored in the memory. The communications manager includes computer-readable instructions for storing an entry in the message log for each non-recorded communication sent by and received by a user. The message log may track any of wireline communications, voice mail communications, email communications, facsimile communications, pager communications, instant messages, electronic chat room communications, and unanswered telephone call attempts to contact the user.

  • Publication number: 20080256210
Abstract: An email message is filtered to determine whether or not it is an undesired email message (e.g., “spam,” “junk mail,” etc.) that originates from an undesirable domain, such as, for example, a domain designated as originating from an undesirable geographic location. In some embodiments, upon determining that the email message originates from an undesirable domain, the email message is deleted (e.g., permanently removed, moved to a designated folder, marked for followup, etc.). In other embodiments, upon determining that the email message originates from an undesirable domain, the email message is further filtered to determine whether or not the email message includes attributes that indicate that the email message should not be discarded.

  • Publication number: 20080209347
Abstract: Presence information of a first user in a messaging system, such as an instant messaging system, is relayed to a second user. A first communications client of a first user detects a change in the presence status of a first user and sends an alert message to a second communications client of a second user. Moreover, systems and methods are provided for sending the alert message to an alternate address, including alternate instant messaging (IM) addresses, e-mail address, or telephone numbers, in the event that the intended recipient of the alert message is not accessible at his or her original IM address.

  • Publication number: 20080168147
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for detecting incorrect e-mail addresses in outgoing e-mail communications. In a first embodiment, a domain name database creates a table of domain names by automatically storing the domain names of e-mail addresses from which incoming e-mails are received. When a user creates an outgoing e-mail communication, the system checks the domain names provided by the user with those domain names stored in the table. If the user-provided domain name does not match any of the domain names in the table, or closely resembles a domain name in the table, the user is prompted to confirm the provided e-mail address. In a second embodiment, e-mail addresses are extracted from incoming e-mail communications and stored in a memory in a client computer e-mail communications system. The system checks the memory for the presence of the e-mail addresses provided in outgoing e-mail communications, and generates a prompt when an e-mail address is not present in the memory.

  • Publication number: 20080140791
Abstract: A system for regulating e-mail comprises a database of information profiling legitimate e-mail usage. When an e-mail is received at the system, it is scrutinized relative to the information in the database. If the e-mail is found to be legitimate based upon this evaluation, it is delivered to the intended recipient. If, however, the e-mail appears on the basis of the evaluation to be the last in a series of illegitimate e-mails or otherwise has characteristics inconsistent with the profile of legitimate e-mail usage, the e-mail may not be delivered and the postmaster and administrator at the source of the e-mail is contacted.

  • Publication number: 20080125153
Abstract: Providing communication between a network communication device and a mobile communication device is disclosed. A server is in communication with a mobile communications network. The server communicates with mobile communication devices in the mobile communications network using a first protocol. The server monitors the state of each mobile communication device, and provides network state information for a group of mobile communication devices to a network communication device. The network communication device and the server communicate using a second protocol, and the network communication device is adapted to display network state information for the group of mobile communication devices and adapted to provide a user interface for communicating with the mobile communication devices. The network communication device includes logic for receiving network information for a communications network. The network information is related to the presence of a mobile communication device in the communications network.

  • Publication number: 20080120379
Abstract: A system for intelligently sorting e-mail comprises a client which downloads e-mails from a server. Prior to presenting the e-mails to the user, the client sorts the e-mail into classifications based upon whether the e-mail is from a personal contact, i.e. someone that that the user knows, whether the e-mail is from a commercial vendor from whom the user has indicated that he or she wishes to accept commercial e-mail, or whether the e-mail is from an unknown source. The client presents the e-mails to the user in these classifications.
