  • Patent number: 6378640
Abstract: A spring designed to be mounted adjacent and in conformance with a convex or concave surface that has varying radii of curvature. The stiffness against bending of the spring varies along its longitudinal axis. The stiffness against bending of various portions of the spring is proportional to the radii of curvature of portions of the surface adjacent which each portion of the spring is to be disposed. The mounting structure for the spring includes female mounting members that are to be engaged to male mounting members. The female mounting members and male mounting members can be engaged to one another by sliding the two components together. The spring and mounting system are particularly well adapted for holding objects adjacent an inner surface of body panels of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5937960
Abstract: The air rail comprises a housing defining an air passageway conduit therein. The conduit has a plurality of passageways therethrough with access to the passageways provided by a plurality of ports disposed in the housing, the main passageway being fed pressurized air from an air compressor discharge and discharging to the brake reservoir. A second passageway acts as a sensing and secondary air supply passageway, the outlet ports from this second passageway being engageable in a push to connect manner with air tubing leading to various air-using systems and devices, the outlets each being positioned as close as possible to the corresponding structure to which it is to be engaged. Further, the air rail may incorporate a fuel oil passageway therein, thereby providing for pre-warming of fuel for the engine.

  • Patent number: 4932490
Abstract: A vehicle having an engine compartment and a hood enclosing the engine compartment and opening forwardly of the vehicle about a horizontal pivot axis located forward of the engine is provided with an air cleaner removably mounted within an enclosed compartment on the under side of the hood and a clean air passage disposed within said hood extends from a first end open to the clean side of said air cleaner to an outlet in said hood adjacent the horizontal pivot axis. A flexible hose connects the clean air passage outlet to the engine air intake to permit opening and closing the hood without breaking the clean air connection. The intake air to the air cleaner is preferably drawn through an air passage in the hood extending from an inlet adjacent the grille to the dirty air side of the air cleaner.
