  • Patent number: 5868684
Abstract: The invention relates to a hard tissue biopsy sampling device, e.g. for bone in humans or animals, comprising a tube shaped casing or sleeve with a distal end provided with a cutting edge and a proximal end. The invention further comprises a needle insertable in the sleeve, the needle extending out of the distal end of the sleeve, and having a tip allowing penetration in the hard tissue. The sleeve exhibits in the vicinity of its distal end a portion having reduced outer diameter. The distal end has a section with reducing diameter, such that the inner diameter of the interior of the device is continuously reduced over at least the major part of the section. In side projection, the cutting edge forms an angle in relation to a perpendicular plane through the cross-section of the device, the angle preferably being 17.degree.-23.degree..

  • Patent number: 5810826
Abstract: A device for puncturing cortical bone. The device consists of a cannula and inside of it an axially movable needle. The distal end of the needle has an eccentrically shaped tip which, by drilling, forms a hole, larger than the outer diameter of the needle, through corticalis, whereupon the enclosing cannula can be inserted into the drilled hole. In this way the cannula's position in the bone is secured and the cannula functions as a fixed anchored guiding channel for further sampling or treatment.

  • Patent number: 5542427
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sterile packaging which considerably reduces the risk of contamination of a part which is in contact with an area on a patient's body, and which can be exposed to the risk of infection. More specifically, the invention has a replaceable air cushion unit for use in conjunction with a femoral compressor, which includes a base plate, an inflatable air cushion having a periphery attached to the base plate and a shielding element covering and sealing the air cushion from ambient surroundings. The base plate is also detachable from the femoral compressor after use.

  • Patent number: 4944308
Abstract: The present invention briefly refers to a driving unit (1) for a device for tissue-sampling. The device comprises in addition to the driving unit a needle unit comprising a hollow outer needle (7a) and slidably disposed therein an inner needle (7b), the driving unit (1) being used to propel the needles (7a, 7b). The driving unit comprises a driving device for each needle and each driving device in turn comprises a spring mechanism adapted to be pre-tensioned. The driving unit in addition comprises an inner guide sleeve (3) containing two successive needle holders (4a, 4b) adapted to be shifted in relation to each other in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve and adapted to be pre-tensioned in the same direction for propelling the needles (7a, 7b) with the aid of one spring (5a, 5b) each and which are provided with releasable locking means (33a, 33b).
