  • Patent number: 4950718
Abstract: A compatibilized blend of at least three polymers is provided. One polymer is a vinylidene chloride interpolymer, such as a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride. A second polymer is an olefin polymer, such as polyethylene. A third polymer is a compatibilizing polymer such as an ethylene/alkyl acrylate or an ethylene/alkyl methacrylate copolymer. The compatibilized blend, after melt processing, has mechanical properties which are better than those predicted by a straight line volume fraction relationship of the vinylidene chloride interpolymer and the olefin polymer.

  • Patent number: 4725651
Abstract: A polymeric blend composition comprising a vinylidene chloride interpolymer and a thermoplastic copolyester resin, said polymers being miscible. The vinylidene chloride interpolymer is present in an amount of from about 1 to about 80 weight percent based on total polymeric blend composition weight. The thermoplastic copolyester resin is present in an amount of from 20 to about 99 weight percent based on total polymeric blend composition weight. The blends exhibit physical properties superior to those expected by the rule of mixtures.

  • Patent number: 4324714
Abstract: A lacquer coating composition containing a crosslinked vinylidene chloride polymer microgel powder which is recovered from a latex obtained by emulsion polymerizing about 85 to 92 parts by weight of vinylidene chloride, about 8 to 15 parts by weight of a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated comonomer, and a minor amount of a copolymerizable crosslinking polyfuntional comonomer. Coatings prepared from such lacquers have excellent barrier and heat-sealing properties.
