Abstract: The embodiments presented herein provide for systems and methods for allowing different types of transactions, e.g., credit or debit transactions, over different payment networks, e.g., Visa or STAR networks, using contactless payment devices. In embodiments, a merchant and/or consumer can select if he or she wants a debit or credit transaction. The merchant point-of-sale (POS) device can process these choices and transmit the request to the contactless payment device. In embodiments, the contactless payment device includes two or more applications (one for credit transactions and one for debit transactions) for conducting transactions and transmitting the requested information to the merchant POS device. The merchant POS device can then use the information received from the contactless payment device to complete the transaction over the requested network.
