The apparatus has n helical blades, formed in the distal section, distributed symmetrically about the axis, each of the blades having a helix angle greater than zero and less than 45°. A cross-section of the distal section, taken orthogonally to the axis of symmetry, includes n mirror planes containing the axis of symmetry, wherein n is a whole number greater than one, and wherein the blades are configured to penetrate into the bone and engage stably therein. Adapters coupling the apparatus to different types of markers are also described.

The first panel and the second panel are pivotally connected to each other at a common hinged edge, the pair of panels being movable between a stowed position in relation to the body, and an expanded position in relation to the body, such that in the expanded position at least one surface of each of the first and second panel are accessible. The first panel further comprises at least one unfixed edge and the second panel further comprises at least one fixed edge pivotally connected to the body. In the stowed position, the unfixed edge is substantially proximate to the fixed edge. In the expanded position, the unfixed edge is substantially distant from the fixed edge.

Abstract: A toolbox has a central section and at least one side section. The side sections are pivotally attached to the central section using a pin and slot arrangement which allows an eccentric path to be followed as the side sections pivot around the central section. This allows freedom of design of the dimensions of a central tray in the central section without obstructing pivoting of the side sections. A latch may be provided which slightly opens the side sections when it is in its unlatched position allowing a user to see that the sides are not properly latched.
