Patent number: 8685597Abstract: First and second anchor features are formed on a photolithography mask, each having a respective center point. An elongated, chromeless, bridging feature is formed between the anchor features. The bridging feature is offset from the center points of the anchor feature to minimize distortions of a corresponding photoresist feature formed by the bridging feature.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2011Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Daniel B. Sullivan, Sangho Kim

Patent number: 8603706Abstract: First and second anchor features are formed on a substrate via a chromeless photolithography process. An elongated bridging feature is formed between the anchor features on the substrate via the chromeless photolithography process. A distance between the anchor features is sufficient to minimize lateral displacement at a center portion of the bridging feature without significant reduction in mechanical stability of the bridging feature.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2011Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Daniel B. Sullivan, Sangho Kim

Patent number: 8563199Abstract: An elongated, chromeless, bridging feature is formed on a photolithography mask with an etching depth that causes a nominal phase difference of more than 180 degrees to energy passing through the photolithography mask. A corresponding photoresist feature is formed using the bridging feature. The phase difference may be chosen to minimize dimensional variation of the corresponding photoresist feature.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2011Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Daniel B. Patent number: 7263785Abstract: Provided is a caliper extender, which fits over a tape measure blade, enabling accurate measurements to be taken of an inside dimension. Extender slides along blade and is positioned against one wall of the inside dimension. Blade is then repositioned flat against extender and a measurement reading is taken. A pointer may also be incorporated into extender to indicate a tape marking corresponding to an accurate measurement. In the alternative, a caliper extender is incorporated into a tape measure such that extender can be disengaged from a casing of tape measure, slid along a blade and a measurement reading taken through a window in a channel through which blade is installed.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2006Date of Patent: September 4, 2007Inventor: Daniel B. Sullivan

Patent number: 7159332Abstract: Provided is a caliper extender (100), which fits over a tape measure blade (124), enabling accurate measurements to be taken of an inside dimension (142). Extender (100) slides along blade (124) and is positioned against one wall of the inside dimension (142). Blade (124) is then repositioned flat against extender (100) and a measurement reading is taken. A pointer (110) may also be incorporated into extender (100) to indicate a tape marking (202, 204, 206, 208 or 210) corresponding to an accurate measurement. In the alternative, a caliper extender (160) is incorporated into a tape measure (350) such that extender (160) can be disengaged from a casing (352) of tape measure (350), slid along a blade (190) and a measurement reading taken through a window (308) in a channel (304) through which blade (190) is installed.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2004Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Inventor: Daniel B. Patent number: 6965808Abstract: A system and method for optimizing metrology sampling rates in an advanced process control (APC) application. A method is provided for processing a run of workpieces, the method comprising the steps of: providing a database comprising subgroups of data representing characteristics from previously processed workpieces; selecting a first subgroup of data having characteristics that satisfy a predetermined criteria; determining processing conditions for a processing tool corresponding to said first subgroup of data; processing the run of workpieces with the process tool using the determined processing conditions; and measuring the run of workpieces according to a sampling rate determined from the first subgroup of data.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2004Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Edward W. Conrad, Craig E. Schneider, John S. Smyth, Daniel B. Sullivan

Patent number: 6356853Abstract: Enhanced voltmeter leads includes load circuitry having a test load that can be switchably coupled between the leads to help identify faults in a circuit under test. In certain embodiments, the value of the test load can be any appropriate value set according to parameters or characteristics of the circuit under test. In these embodiments, the value of the test load can be set manually or automatically or both. The types of faults that can be identified include a short-to-ground, an open circuit, and a high (e.g., corrosive) resistance. The leads include a switch whose setting is adjustable to couple and decouple the test load between the leads. The switch can be located in the leads or in a lead handle of the leads for easy access by a user/technician. The leads can also include a fuse or circuit breaker for safety reasons. The leads can be used systematically to help identify the type and location of a fault from voltage readings.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1999Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Inventor: Daniel B.
