Publication number: 20240104193Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for direct assignment of physical devices to confidential virtual machines (VMs). At a first guest privilege context of a guest partition, a direct assignment of a physical device associated with a host computer system to the guest partition is identified. The guest partition includes the first guest privilege context and a second guest privilege context, which is restricted from accessing memory associated with the first guest privilege context. The guest partition corresponds to a confidential VM, such that a memory region associated with the guest partition is inaccessible to a host operating system. It is determined, based on a policy, that the physical device is allowed to be directly assigned to the guest partition. Communication between the physical device and the second guest privilege context is permitted, such as by exposing the physical device on a virtual bus and/or forwarding an interrupt.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2022Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Jin LIN, Jason Stewart WOHLGEMUTH, Michael Bishop EBERSOL, Aditya BHANDARI, Steven Adrian WEST, Emily Cara CLEMENS, Michael Halstead KELLEY, Dexuan CUI, Attilio MAINETTI, Sarah Elizabeth STEPHENSON, Carolina Cecilia PEREZ-VARGAS, Antoine Jean Denis DELIGNAT-LAVAUD, Kapil VASWANI, Alexander Daniel GREST, Steve Michel PRONOVOST, David Alan HEPKIN

Patent number: 8975899Abstract: An inverter device for feeding electrical energy from a DC-power source into a power grid includes a pair of bus lines to be connected to the DC-power source; a plurality of capacitors connected in series between the bus lines; a surveying topology surveying an integrity of the plurality of capacitors, and to provide a signal indicating a loss of integrity of one capacitor of the plurality of capacitors; a voltmeter measuring a voltage drop over the plurality of capacitors; a DC/AC-inverter; and a controller. in case of the signal indicating a loss of integrity of one capacitor of the plurality of capacitors, the controller compares the voltage drop over the plurality of capacitors to a lost integrity threshold voltage value, and reduces a current load to the plurality of capacitors by reducing the power uptake of the DC/AC-inverter, when the voltage drop exceeds the lost integrity threshold voltage value.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2012Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: SMA Solar Technology AGInventors: Henrik Wolf, Thomas Wegener, Daniel Clemens, Harald Drangmeister

Patent number: 8253424Abstract: A topology for surveying the integrity of a plurality of capacitors connected in series between a pair of bus lines arranged to be connected to a DC-power source comprises a plurality of resistors connected in series between the pair of bus lines, the plurality of resistors being connected in parallel to the plurality of capacitors; and a comparator comparing the electric potential of an intermediate point between two capacitors of the plurality of capacitors with the electric potential of an intermediate point between two resistors of the plurality of resistors. The comparator provides a signal signaling a difference between these two electric potentials, which indicates a loss of integrity of one capacitor of the plurality of capacitors.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2009Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: SMA Solar Technology AGInventors: -Ing. Publication number: 20110172677Abstract: A medical instrument positioning device that allows medical personnel to quickly and easily insert and remove medical instruments and accessories through a portal in a patient is described. The device guides the inserted instruments directly to the surgical site so that the surgeon does not have to search to reacquire the site. The device is generally āLā shaped, having a handle on the proximal end and a somewhat sharpened tip on the distal end. The body of the device is generally curved or otherwise shaped to form a channel down which medical instruments, cameras, accessories, etc. can be positioned. The tip of the device is shaped so as to be easily inserted into a portal. Once inserted, the device is positioned so that the distal end is in proximity to a surgical site.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Inventor: Daniel Clemens Newman

Patent number: 7214948Abstract: A high measuring resolution along with a large irradiation surface and a high beam intensity are required for structural analysis of material according to the small angle neutron scattering measuring technique. However, with known diaphragm collimators, the necessary beam divergence cannot be reached without an unacceptable loss of intensity. The inventive neutron optical component (1) comprises a plurality of successively arranged pinhole diaphragms embodied as grating diaphragms (7), each grating diaphragm (7) comprising a plurality of diaphragm apertures (14). In this way, the neutron beam is divided into individual beams which are each improved in terms of the convergence thereof. Furthermore, the channels defined by the course of the grating diaphragms (7) by means of respectively identically positioned diaphragm apertures (14) are narrowed according to the convergence cone provided by the structure of the measuring instrument.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2003Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin GmbH.Inventors: Ferenc Mezei, Daniel Clemens, Lounis Mokrani

Publication number: 20060226143Abstract: A first container is provided including a first base, a first wall, a second wall, a third wall, and a fourth wall. The first, second, third, and fourth walls, can each be placed in an erect state, substantially perpendicular to the first base or in a collapsed state substantially parallel to the first base. The first and second walls, which oppose each other, can also be placed in ramp states to allow a vehicle or cargo to be rolled over the first or second walls and onto the first base. Inverted J-shaped slots allow the first wall or the second wall to pivot about multiple pivot points with respect to the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2005Publication date: October 12, 2006Inventors: Paul Elstone, Daniel Clemens, Thomas Craig, Robert Murnane
