  • Publication number: 20100280700
Abstract: A vehicle resource load in a shared-vehicle system 100 is balanced. A central home-station 104 is provided and allocated a number of vehicles 102. A number of day-stations 106 are associated with the central home-station 104 with facilities for docking and reenergizing the vehicles 102. The vehicles 102 are distributed to one or more of the day stations 106 via operation by distribution-users 108 with journeys originating from the central home-station 104 and terminating at the day-stations 106. The vehicles 102 are provided for limited term use by day-users 110 at the day-stations 106 with a requirement that the vehicles 102 be returned to the day-stations 106 by the end of a respective limited term. The vehicles 102 are returned to the central home-station 104 upon expiration of the limited term use via operation by the distribution-users 108 with journeys originating from the day-stations 106 and terminating at the central home-station 104.

  • Patent number: 5890554
Abstract: A motor vehicle is provided having an elongated body with a front and rear end aligned along a longitudinal axis, a right and left seat area, and a right and left entry opening defined in part by a right and left sill member. A pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels are pivotally attached to the body generally adjacent the front and rear ends thereof. The front and rear wheels have a tire contact width of TW.sub.F and TW.sub.R. The front tires having a front wheel track WT.sub.F and the rear tires having a rear wheel track WT.sub.R measured from center of tire contact to center of tire contact of the tires making up a pair. The front wheel track being greater than the rear wheel track so that WT.sub.R +TW.sub.R is less than WT.sub.F. This dimensional relationship enables the sill members to be generally rearwardly inclined relative to the body longitudinal axis to facilitate easy vehicle entry by an occupant.

  • Patent number: 4944360
Abstract: A three wheel vehicle is described having two forward wheels that are driven and steerable. The two forward wheels and the single rear wheel are supported on a single-unit platform member that is molded from an engineering plastic. The vehicle rear wheel is mounted on a trailing arm that is pivoted at generally the middle underside of the platform member. This trailing arm is movable to facilitate three-point vehicle storage, as the vehicle rests on its two front wheels and on its then closely adjacent rear wheel, with the trailing arm in a vertical position. The platform member includes a plurality of pipe-like attachment clip/handles strategically located both within the bounds of the platform and about the periphery of the platform. The vehicle is intended for use by a seated or a standing individual. A plurality of accessories are selectively attachable to the platform member by use of the platform clip/handles.

The two forward wheels and the single rear wheel are supported by a single-unit platform member molded from an engineering plastic. The platform member includes a plurality of pipe-like attachment clip/handles strategically located both within the bounds of the platform and about the periphery of the platform. The basic vehicle is intended for use by a standing individual. A plurality of accessories are selectively attachable to the platform member by use of the platform clip/handles. They facilitate use of the vehicle by both a seated and a standing individual, and protect the individual from the environment. Attachments that facilitate cargo carrying and protection of the individual are also described. The vehicle is foldable for storage.
