  • Patent number: 11953311
Abstract: SPF (spray polyurethane foam) insulation applied in a commercial or residential building is an amazing but costly construction product. One reason is that application of SPF insulation requires large investment capital equipment and a specialized crew for each job. The work is further made difficult because determination of the performance and quality characteristics of the performed work is subjective and still dependent on only primitive tools for normal routine examination. We worked to solve this problem by designing, building, and testing a portable measurement and evaluation system capable of reading any, and all SPF substrates with reliable accuracy and repeatability. With this tool, the applicator or inspector can now efficiently and accurately determine the performance and quality characteristics of the spray foam job and make smart strategic decisions on-demand.

  • Patent number: 10426980
Abstract: SPF (spray polyurethane foam) insulation applied in a commercial or residential building is an amazing but costly construction product. One reason is that application of SPF insulation requires large investment capital equipment and a specialized crew for each job. The work is further made difficult because interface with the complex plural component machine (proportioner) is not possible from the location where the work is being performed (where the applicator and spray gun are.) We worked to solve this problem by designing a wireless system to communicate with the proportioner at the point of use (POU) where we are spraying. We designed the system to interface with all proportioner brands used by contractors keeping the user interface and majority of components standard for all. The applicator can now efficiently interact with his equipment and make smart strategic decisions on-demand. Using our system, the average applicator can improve his productivity by 13-17% per job.

  • Patent number: 10425703
Abstract: SPF (spray polyurethane foam) insulation applied in a commercial or residential building is the only building product which is manufactured on-site and not in a controlled in-plant environment. One reason for the high cost of SPF is that application of SPF requires large investment capital equipment and a specialized crew for each job. The work is further complex because the crew of each rig manufactures and installs the plural component product with little or no technical off-site guidance or support. We worked to solve this problem by designing a remote monitoring and reporting system which sends live raw parameter data from the spray rig to a support center server. The support center processes the data and provides rig support through our 4 pillars of technology. We designed the system to interface with all proportioner brands used by contractors keeping the user interface and majority of components standard for all.
