  • Patent number: 8678792
Abstract: A roller pump conduit defining a pump chamber is provided. The roller pump conduit includes a roller contact portion having a fill region and a delivery region. The fill region has a first taper configured to determine volume delivery per revolution of a roller head. The delivery region has a pressure region having a second taper and a discharge region having a third taper. The third taper has a lesser degree of taper than the second taper. The delivery region is configured to produce a pulsatile flow out of the conduit. Furthermore, a roller pump having a roller pump conduit is provided. The roller pump conduit of the roller pump has a fill region and a delivery region, the fill region having a first taper, and the delivery region having a second and third taper, wherein the third taper has lesser degree of taper than the second taper.

  • Patent number: 8568289
Abstract: A system and method for controlling extracorporeal blood flow in a patient. The system includes a blood pump having a rotor, a plurality of rollers carried by the rotor and a pump chamber extended in tension about the rollers. A sensor measures an operating parameter of the blood pump and a controller, coupled to the sensor, calculates the flow efficiency of the blood pump based on the measured operating parameter. The controller is further configured to display the flow efficiency on the display device, and the operation of the blood pump is adjusted based on the flow efficiency when necessary.

  • Publication number: 20100209263
Abstract: A modular fluid pump including: a pump motor that provides a motor force, a sealed housing cartridge removably coupled to the pump motor, wherein the housing cartridge is interchangeable with a replacement housing cartridge, a frame enclosed in the housing cartridge and having a plurality of rollers arranged on the frame, a drive coupling means for transmitting the motor force from the pump motor to the frame thereby inducing rotation of the frame, and a fluid conduit, wrapped under tension around at least one of the plurality of rollers, that facilitates fluid flow from an inlet region of the fluid conduit to an outlet region of the fluid conduit. Rotation of the frame causes the plurality of rollers to compress the fluid conduit at subsequent intervals, thereby driving fluid to the outlet region with a peristaltic movement.
