  • Patent number: 6237903
Abstract: A bushing apparatus for interconnecting two members and allowing relative motion therebetween allows decoupled spring rates in the axial and radial directions. The bushing apparatus includes an inner cylindrical member (14) having a first outer surface (20) and first and second ends (16, 18). First and second stops (22) which project radially outward from the first outer surface of the inner cylindrical member are positioned at the first and second ends, respectively. An outer cylindrical member (24) having a first inner surface (26) is arranged coaxially with the inner cylindrical member. A bearing member (28) having second inner and outer surfaces (29, 31) is interposed coaxially between the inner and outer cylindrical members. The second inner surface of the bearing member is cylindrical and slidable relative to the first outer surface of the inner cylindrical member.

  • Patent number: 5775720
Abstract: A shock absorbing apparatus suitable for use in a motor vehicle having a first component (16) and a second component 18 movable relative to one another is described. The shock absorbing apparatus (48) includes a first, second and third metallic members (54, 74, 90) for providing positive control of the total compression of a shock absorber (14) under jounce loading. Additionally, a second hollow member (82) attaches to an elastomeric member (62), which when compressed under jounce loading retracts to provide clearance for a spring perch 28 located on a first hollow member (20).

  • Patent number: 5538229
Abstract: A suspension attachment apparatus is described suitable for use in a motor vehicle having an elongate suspension member interposed and connecting a sprung mass to an unsprung mass. The apparatus includes an isolator and a mechanism for fastening the suspension member to the sprung mass. The mechanism ensures proper orientation of the suspension member during the assembly process. Additionally, the mechanism simultaneously prevents rotation of the suspension member along its longitudinal axis relative to the isolator and prevents rotation of the isolator relative the sprung mass while isolating the sprung mass from vibrations of the unsprung mass.
