  • Publication number: 20210307833
Abstract: A method of determining patient-specific implant parameters for an implant used in a surgical procedure is described. A surgical system receives one or more initial transfer functions and one or more preoperative input factors for a patient and generates a surgical plan comprising one or more patient-specific implant parameters based on the one or more initial transfer functions and the one or more preoperative input factors for the patient. The surgical system further receives one or more intraoperative input factors for the patient and updates the one or more patient-specific implant parameters based on the one or more intraoperative input factors for the patient. An implant for the patient is selected based on the one or more updated patient-specific implant parameters.

  • Publication number: 20190336183
Abstract: An intramedullary bone transport nail configured for axial bone segment transport by an externally applied magnetic field includes a nail body defining an internal chamber; locking portions for locking respective ends of the nail body in first and second bone fragments of a long bone, respectively; and a transport carriage assembly that is arranged in an axially movable manner within the internal chamber of the nail body and has an aperture for accommodating a transport bone segment screw for fixing a middle bone segment of the long bone to the bone transport carriage. The nail body defines an elongated longitudinal opening to allow axial motion of the transport bone segment screw as the transport carriage assembly moves axially by rotation of a threaded rod affixed to a magnetic driver. Rotation of the threaded rod is achieved by application of torque to the magnetic driver by a rotating external magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 10270323
Abstract: A low resistance generator includes a series of stator plates and rotors. Stator plates include the coils wrapped around coil spools. The stator plates and coil spools are made from non-conductive and non-ferromagnetic material. The coils are exposed to the surrounding air and cooled convectively by airflow caused by a rotation of the rotors in the gaps. Rotors house magnets and are disposed within gaps between the stator plates. The rotors are also made of non-conductive and non-ferromagnetic materials. The magnets may be disposed on the rotors to form columns. Two columns of magnets are joined together to form one or more closed magnetic loops, each column being joined by a gauss bridge disposed at first and second end rotors.

  • Patent number: 8617064
Abstract: An adjustable surgical retractor clamping mechanism for attaching mechanism to an operating table. The mechanism includes an upper jaw, lower jaw, a drive member, an adjustable frame support post and a releasable clamp for adjusting the height of the surgical retracting frame. The upper portion of the lower jaw has a plurality of slots cut into the sidewalls of upper jaw to form at least one flexible finger. The clamp is in close sliding relationship to the upper portion of lower jaw member. The clamp includes a cam lever. Movement of the cam lever to its closed position compresses the clamp causing the flexible fingers to grip the adjustable post locking its longitudinal movement. Rotation of the cam lever to the open position releases the compressive force on the clamp, unlocking the adjustable post allowing the post to be longitudinally adjusted relative to the clamping mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8100827
Abstract: An adjustable surgical retractor system for clamping system to an operating table. The clamping mechanism includes an upper jaw, lower jaw, a drive member, an adjustable frame support post and releasable locking mechanism for adjusting the height of the surgical retracting frame. The releasable locking mechanism can be a mechanism that includes a sleeve in close sliding relationship to the upper portion of lower jaw member. The upper portion of the lower jaw has a plurality of sockets for receipt of a plurality of balls. The sleeve can have a first position which positions an internal shoulder in alignment with the sockets and urges the balls into engagement with circumferential grooves in post member to lock the post at desired height. In a second position, an internal groove in the sleeve can align with the sockets to allow the balls to move partially out of the sockets and out of engagement with the groove in the post so that the post can be longitudinally adjusted relative to the clamping mechanism.
