  • Patent number: 9879428
Abstract: A rain water collection system for a blue roof system that includes a tray assembly comprising a container, a water absorbing layer located in said interior region of the container, ballast members and a cover plate. The water absorbing layer is supported on a first set of support surfaces to locate the water absorbing layer above the bottom wall of the container to provide a water collecting space into which will flow excess water that exceeds the water absorbing capacity of the water absorbing layer. The sidewalls of the container have openings therethrough to facilitate the passage of over flow water from the container and the introduction of air therethrough into the interior region. The upstanding columns have openings to facilitate the passage of air therethrough into the interior region of the container.

  • Patent number: 8056195
Abstract: A U-shaped clip that is configured to be quickly installed by attaching the clip over the top edge of the vertical wall defined by plural end to end oriented landscape edging restraint members. This action is quick and easily accomplished by hand, requiring no tools or forceful effort. The clip is made of a material having a hardness characteristic that is harder than the material of the edging restraint members. The clip includes a series of pointed, opposing, hardened steel barbs that bite into the softer edging material to create a mechanical lock. Further, the barbs are angled so as to increase the force applied to the edging material as the parts are drawn apart in opposite directions.

  • Publication number: 20100050505
Abstract: A landscape edging system includes an elongate edging strip having first and second mutually perpendicular plate-like members forming an L-shape. The first plate-like member extends coextensively with the second plate-like member and is configured to lie parallel with an upwardly facing surface of a landscaping surface upon which it has been placed. A further plate-like member is oriented either above or below the first plate-like member. Plural fastening members fasten the first plate-like member to the further plate-like member to facilitate clamping of a porous material layer therebetween to facilitate a fixed orientating of the edging strip relative to the landscape surface on which the edging strip has been placed.

  • Patent number: 7152366
Abstract: An edging strip having improved mating features. The edging strip is an elongate segment of extruded material which has top and bottom edges and front and rear sides. Mating features are provided on the top and bottom edges and are configured to unite with each other only when one edging strip is upside down relative to the other edging strip and axially aligned so that one edging strip is slidable axially relative to the other edging strip to thereby cause an interconnecting mating of the mating features.

  • Patent number: 6938369
Abstract: A change of grade connector which includes first and second connector members. Each of the connector members is configured to attach to an end of a conventional landscaping edging strip. A longitudinal centerline extends through each of the connector members. The connector includes a fastener which is configured to pivotally attach the connector members. The connector members can pivot with respect to one another along the fastener axis between a first position in which the longitudinal centerlines are aligned and a second position in which the longitudinal centerlines are out of alignment.

  • Patent number: 6379078
Abstract: A pavement restraint structure includes edging pieces having apertures. Connecting elements have protrusions that are secured in the edging aperatures such that adjacent edging pieces have a gap therebetween. Anchoring elements are received by slotted apertures in the edging pieces. Thus, the arrangement enables movement, such as contraction and expansion of the edging pieces along a length thereof. Such movement prevents damage to, or improper shifting of the pavement restraint structure with respect to the pavement due to large changes in temperature of the structure.

  • Patent number: 5301461
Abstract: A landscape edging assembly which includes first and second elongated strips of material having longitudinal top and bottom edges and being adapted for use as landscape edging. The strips are adapted for end-to-end alignment along longitudinal axes thereof with mutually adjacent ends of each of the strips having an end segment that is laterally offset with respect to a remainder segment by an amount that is equal to or just slightly greater than a thickness dimension of the strips. The end segment and the remainder segment on each strip are integrally connected by a transversely extending segment and having an edge opening slot on the top edge of one of the strips and on the bottom edge of the next mutually adjacent strip. Each slot extends generally halfway into the strip from a respective edge, leaving a remainder transversely extending segment joining the end segment and the remainder segment on each of the strips.

  • Patent number: 4628632
Abstract: An edging strip useful in landscaping and other uses. The edging strip is an aluminum elongate extrusion having a generally uniform thickness. The strip, in vertical orientation thereof, has plural elongated grooves in one side thereof extending lengthwise of the strip and being vertically spaced from one another. The strip further has plural ribs projecting outwardly from an opposite side thereof and opposite the grooves at a vertical location on the aforesaid opposite side coinciding with the location of the aforesaid grooves. Each of the grooves has a pair of vertically spaced sidewall surfaces and a vertically upright bottom wall surface. The lowermost sidewall surface of each groove has a wall surface that is flat and inclined to the horizontal and defining an acute angle with the bottom wall surface.
