Abstract: A system and method are described for providing a game of chance over messaging services. In one embodiment a method is disclosed for receiving a message from a first user which includes an identifier of a second user. The second user is registered for the game of chance based on the identifier of the first user. A message may be sent to the second user to invite the second user to enter the identifier of another user into the game of chance. A winning identifier is identified from a set of identifiers, such as the identifiers entered into the game of chance. A message is sent the second user if the amount by which the identifier of the first user matches the winning identifier satisfies a winning threshold. The message may include an indication that the second user won a prize.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a mobile device and method for determining a number of days before a tax liability trigger. In one embodiment, a mobile device receives location information identifying a country that the mobile device is present in and tracks a number of days the mobile device is present in the country. The mobile device determines a number of days before a tax liability trigger occurs in the country based on the tracked number of days and tax information of the user of the mobile device, and then displays the number of days before the tax liability trigger.

Abstract: A method and system for playing a game are provided. In one embodiment, a party selects one or more songs. A set of songs is then randomly selected from those songs that were actually played, e.g., by a radio station, during a time period. These randomly-selected songs are the contesting-winning songs. If the song(s) that the party selected matches any of the songs in the randomly-selected set, the party is awarded a prize. Accordingly, the party wins a prize if (1) the radio station plays one of the songs the party selected and (2) that song is one of the randomly-selected songs. The award can be tiered such that the size of the prize increases as the number of songs the party guesses correctly increases.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting and measuring emotional indicia in an interactive, real-time communication application. Emotional indicia are preferably emoticons, however, other indicia including words and text can be employed. The real-time interactive communications application is preferably an instant messaging application or a chat room environment. User-conveyed ratings or emotional sentiments are automatically detected and measured to provide an overall rating. Alternatively, an on-going rating can be displayed for a topic currently being discussed or reviewed.
