  • Publication number: 20150374623
Abstract: Dry powder formulations for inhalation and their use in the treatment diseases and conditions. The formulation contains a uniform blend of a first spray-dried powder and a second spray-dried powder. The first spray-dried powder contains spray-dried particles of a therapeutically active ingredient dispersed in a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophobic excipient. The second spray-dried powder contains spray-dried particles formed from a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophobic excipient but are substantially free of any therapeutically active ingredient. The active ingredient in the first spray-dried powder is loaded sufficiently high to compensate for the second spray-dried powder being substantially free of any active ingredient. A process for preparing such formulations is also described.

  • Publication number: 20150341536
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to systems and methods for orienting an image captured by a camera (e.g., on a wearable computing device such as a smartwatch). The system can include an orientation sensor (e.g., one or more accelerometers) for detecting the orientation of the camera. In some embodiments, a controller can modify (e.g., crop and/or rotate) a first image captured by the camera (e.g., at a misaligned orientation) to produce a second image. In some embodiments, an actuator can move (e.g., rotate) the camera to an aligned position before the image is captured. The controller can use information from the orientation sensor to determine an amount of rotation to be applied to the camera and/or to the first image in order to orient the image at the desired orientation.

  • Patent number: 9172070
Abstract: A battery pack is provided for a mobile communication device, comprising a casing defining a cavity that conforms, at least partially, to the outer shape of the mobile communication device and one or more rechargeable power cells housed within the thickness of the casing. An internal interface engages a corresponding interface on the mobile communication device to provide power from the one or more rechargeable cells to the mobile communication device. An external interface is electrically coupled to the internal interface in order to transmit signals from the mobile communication device to an external device and may further serve to recharge the one or more rechargeable power cells. The battery pack may also serve as an extendible platform by providing additional integrated communication interfaces and/or processors that can be utilized by the mobile communication device to extend its communication and/or processing capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20150214993
Abstract: A mobile device peripheral that incorporates a repeater antenna inside of a protective case for a mobile device to extend the range of short-range communications while minimizing interference caused by the thickness or materials of the protective case. The repeater antenna can be capable of receiving a wireless signal from an antenna in the mobile device and transmitting the same signal or an amplified version of the same signal. The repeater antenna can be capable of receiving a wireless signal from an external antenna and transmitting the same signal or an amplified version of the same signal to the mobile device. The mobile device peripheral can also include a battery that provides additional power the mobile device. Without a repeater antenna, the materials and/or thickness of the additional battery and/or the case can partially or completely block a short-range, low-frequency, or low-power communication signal such as Near Field Communication (NFC).
