  • Publication number: 20230418493
Abstract: Various illustrative aspects are directed to a data storage device, comprising one or more disks; an actuator mechanism configured to position heads proximate to a recording medium of the disks; and one or more processing devices. The processing devices are configured to detect a criterion for inserting padding on the recording medium proximate to data containers to be written to the recording medium, the containers configured for assigning logic blocks to the containers, the logic blocks configured to store data to be written in an interleaved pattern across sectors based on a distributed sector encoding scheme, wherein detecting the criterion comprises detecting a mismatch in size between at least a portion of a zone and an integer number of containers in which to write the at least a portion of the zone; and insert mapping indicators to a mapping to indicate padding blocks proximate to the containers.

  • Patent number: 11790948
Abstract: Various illustrative aspects are directed to a data storage device, comprising one or more disks; an actuator arm assembly comprising one or more heads, and configured to position the one or more heads proximate to disk surfaces of the one or more disks; and one or more processing devices. The one or more processing devices are configured to detect one or more physical defects on a recording medium; designate, in a mapping of the recording medium, the one or more physical defects for exclusion from being assigned to data containers, the data containers configured for assignment of a plurality of logic blocks to the data containers, the logic blocks configured to store the data to be written that are being interleaved across a plurality of sectors based on a distributed sector encoding scheme; and designate one or more artificial defects adjacent to the one or more physical defects for exclusion from being assigned to the data containers in the mapping.

  • Publication number: 20220250054
Abstract: The present application is generally directed to systems, methods, and devices for diagnostics for sensing and/or identifying pathogens, genomic materials, proteins, and/or other small molecules or biomarkers, for example, using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP). Some implementations include additional improvements, such as improvements to sample and reagent mixing, sample deposition, and compensation of inhibitors in the sample. Also disclosed herein are nucleic acid primers for use in the sensitive and specific detection of pathogens in biological samples by LAMP, which may be performed in the devices disclosed herein. The biological samples may be derived from patients including humans, plants, food, soil, contaminated surfaces, or animals such as livestock.

  • Patent number: 11331866
Abstract: Systems and methods for forming machine with enhanced setup and health feedback. One embodiment is a forming machine including a positioning system to move a forming member and mandrel relative to one another for forming a shaped part, and a sensor disposed between the forming member and the mandrel. A forming controller obtains a first coordinate position of the forming member and the mandrel in position to produce a target baseline parameter at the sensor prior to placement of a part over the mandrel. The forming controller calculates a second coordinate position of the forming member and the mandrel for forming the part based on the first coordinate position and a thickness of the part. After placement of the part over the mandrel, the forming controller directs the positioning system to move the forming member and the mandrel to the second coordinate position to shape the part.

  • Patent number: 9503436
Abstract: One embodiment is a system, comprising a first NAS device, a second NAS device. The first and second NAS devices may be configured to be paired with one another to enable an ongoing secure exchange of content (e.g., files, pictures, movies, audio recordings) and NAS settings (e.g., RAID settings, backup schedules, etc.) between the first and second NAS devices across a network. According to one embodiment, through this ongoing secure exchange of content and NAS settings, the second NAS device may become and may be thereafter maintained as a mirror of the first NAS device, such that the second NAS device may be maintained as a drop-in physical and functional replacement for the first NAS device in the event of a failure of the first NAS device.
