  • Patent number: 10334444
Abstract: A predetermined event occurring on a client device is detected. The predetermined event can be in the form of a user-initiated action, an audio command, geolocation information, a breaking of a wireless connection, or exceeding a relative distance. The detection of the predetermined event triggers a switch of the current access mode of the client device to a more secure access mode. Access mode switches on other client devices may also be triggered. Additional actions may be executed on the client device and the other associated client devices to further secure these devices.

  • Patent number: 9654503
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for evaluating networks may include (1) identifying an initial set of recorded packet performance data that describes an instance of an attempt to establish a network connection path between an original node and a subsequent node in a network, (2) detecting, by a software security system, a network anomaly based on comparison data resulting from a comparison between the initial set of recorded packet performance data and an additional set of recorded packet performance data that describes another instance of an attempt to establish a network connection path between the original node and the subsequent node, and (3) performing, by the software security system, and in response to detecting the network anomaly based on the comparison between the sets of packet performance data, a security action to protect the computing device. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8424088
Abstract: During a migration or installation of a software application (e.g., a security software application), a computer can be left vulnerable to attack by malicious code. However, a computer can be protected during an installation process by disabling routes through which a malicious attack might occur. More specifically, a determination module determines that the installation process for the security software application will be performed. When the installation process begins, a communication disabling module disables substantially all communication through external network connection ports for the computer that are unneeded for the installation process. In some embodiments, a process restriction module also restricts execution of processes which are not associated with the installation of the security software application. An installation module allows the installation process for the security software application to be performed on the computer.
