  • Publication number: 20100271834
Abstract: A LED lighting system comprising one or more LED chips and a two part railing system. The two part railing system comprises a first rail and a second rail parallel to the first rail, wherein the first and second rails are thermally and electrically conductive, form an electric circuit with the one or more LED chips to supply power thereto, and are mechanically sturdy so as to support the one or more LED chips. The LED chip has a first connection connected electrically to the first rail, and a second connection connected electrically to the second rail. The LED chip is thermally connected to the first and second rails, such that heat dissipation and electrical connection are ensured via the mechanical connection.

  • Publication number: 20080271550
Abstract: Gyroscope apparatus (100) having a compact size is disclosed herein. The apparatus (100) comprises a flywheel (402) having a centre cavity (401) and being arranged to be rotated about a Z-axis. The apparatus (100) further includes two motors (300, 350) and a gear assembly (200) driven by the two motors and arranged to rotate two shafts (102, 104) disposed along the Z-axis, thus rotating the flywheel about a Y-axis which is orthogonal to the Z-axis. Since flywheel (402) is disposed around the motors (300, 350) and the gear assembly (200), the apparatus can be made very compact.

  • Patent number: 6548948
Abstract: An energy saving lamp includes an electronic ballast with a printed board positioned upright in a lamp base, wherein all electronic components are provided on the printed board. The electronic components are arranged such that heat generated during operation is dissipated to the metallic fitting of the lamp base. The required insulation is provided by a base insulator of insulating material positioned between a fitting and a central contact. The gas discharge lamp further includes U-shaped gas tubes and is fastened on the lamp base with a lamp insert which is composed of two parts.

  • Patent number: 5982107
Abstract: The object of the invention in to provide a drive circuit in which a high efficiency can be achieved and with which the voltage spikes reacting on the supply network are virtually zero. For this purpose, the discharge lamp (FL) is connected by its first electrode (E1), by means of a connecting line (VL), to the junction (H) between the emitter resistor (R3) of the first transistor (T1) and the collector of the second transistor (T2) of the high-frequency resonant circuit. The discharge lap (FL) in connected by its second electrode (E2) to the neutral conductor (0). As a result, the supply current with the superimposed control frequency flows via the load. Consequently, voltage spikes are compensated for and the efficiency in considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 5898278
Abstract: For driving gas discharge lamps, a ballast is provided between the positive and the negative output terminals of a rectifier arrangement (D1, D2, D3, D4). The ballast comprises a filter stage (C1, C2, C3, DR1, DR2) with an oscillation voltage build-up circuit (R1, C6, D5, DIAC) and with a high-frequency resonant circuit (R2-R6, T1, T2, D5, D6, C6, I1, I2), and also with a decoupling capacitor (C7), a third inductor (DR3) and a third inductance (I3, I4). This third inductance is wound together with the two abovementioned windings of the high-frequency resonant circuit (I1, I2) onto a common core. The ballast is routed by a connecting line (VL) from the junction (H) between the two transistors (T1, T2) to one electrode (E1) of the discharge lamp (FL), the second electrode (E2) of which is connected to the first electrode (E1) via a resonant capacitance (C12, C13).

  • Patent number: 5653527
Abstract: The power-saving lamps generally comprise a screw base with built-in electronics and a lamp body which is connected thereto, is mounted on a lamp stand and has one or more discharge lamps. The screw base (1) is designed with a prismatic body (11) which is connected in one piece to the screw part (2) and has two parallel walls (12, 13) situated opposite one another. In each case one groove (14, 15), which is directed toward the screw part (2) in an axially parallel direction from the top side opposite to the screw part (2) and has an end catch (16, 17), is located in the said parallel walls (12, 13). The lamp stand (3) is designed in the same way as the body (11) and with the same prismatic contour. It is provided with two axially parallel tabs (31, 32) which are congruent with the grooves (14, 15) and have a latching lug (33, 34).
