  • Patent number: 10054479
Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a controller operable to determine the true patient weight by detecting the net weight change of the patient supported on the patient support apparatus. The controller is configured to automatically detect and distinguish the addition or removal of non-patient loads from patient-related loads by determining the rate of weight change of each weight event signals. The controller is further configured to determine the net weight change of the patient by automatically updating a net weight of the non-patient loads on the patient support apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7845243
Abstract: A torque sensing assembly (10) includes a first sensor assembly (50) configured for sensing at least a portion of a magnetic field of a first portion (22) of a rotating shaft assembly (12) and generating a first signal (52). A second sensor assembly (56) is configured for sensing at least a portion of a magnetic field of a second portion (26) of the rotating shaft assembly (12) and generating a second signal (58). • Publication number: 20050275565
Abstract: A magnetizable composition comprises a phase made of a thermoplastic polymer material, a second phase containing a cured elastomeric material, and a hard magnetic material dispersed in both the thermoplastic and the elastomeric phases. The phases are blended into a homogenous mixture suitable for use in fabricating shaped articles. The shaped articles may be magnetized to create alternating opposite poles along the surface of the article, to provide articles useful as encoders and targets for measuring rotational position or speed.

  • Publication number: 20040183702
Abstract: An admixture of thermoplastic polymer (such as thermoplastic elastomer), cured elastomeric polymeric material (such as thermoset elastomer), and magnetizable (ferrite) powder provide a thermoplastic elastomer featuring a relatively high loading of a magnetizable material. The admixed magnetizable thermoplastic elastomer composition, optionally cured, provides robust material properties along with good forming properties for molding magnetic components. This material is advantageous for a magnetic target wheel in an encoder.

  • Patent number: 6559633
Abstract: A speed sensing seal with a first support member, a second support member, a magnetic elastomer member, a sensor member and an elastomeric seal member is disclosed. The magnetic elastomeric member with alternating adjacent poles is formed on the first support member and the sensor member is attached to an aperture in the second support member and overmolded with a layer of elastomer. The first and second support members are formed in the unitized body to form an internal cavity which contains the sensor, magnetic member, and the elastomeric seal. The first support member has a low wear surface to reduce initial seal failures and to enhance seal life.
