    Abstract: Apparatus for generating magnetic fields, including a plurality of radiator coils (22, 24, 26) and driver circuitry (30, 32, 33) coupled thereto, which drives the coils so as to generate magnetic fields at a plurality of driving frequencies, wherein each of the plurality of radiator coils (22, 24, 26) generates a field substantially only at a single, respective driving frequency. Preferably circuitry is associated with at least one of the plurality of radiator coils (22, 24, 26) for substantially eliminating magnetic fields generated by the other coils.

  • Detection of metal disturbance

    Abstract: A method for tracking an object using energy fields, in the presence of interference due to introduction of an article responsive to the fields, in the vicinity of the object. One or more desired energy fields are produced in the vicinity of the object, and a characteristic of energy fields induced due to introduction of the article is determined. Signals are generated responsive to the energy fields at a plurality of locations of the object after introduction of the article. Spatial coordinates of the object are determined, responsive to the generated signals and the determined characteristic.
