  • Patent number: 5314633
Abstract: A phosphorous- and sulfur-containing additive and its use to impart anti-wear and/or antioxidant properties to oleaginous compositions such as fuels and lubricating oils, particularly power transmission compositions, such as automatic transmission fluids, is disclosed. The additive comprises a mixture of products formed by simultaneously reacting (1) a beta-hydroxy thioether, such as thiobisethanol, and (2) a phosphorous-containing reactant, such as tributyl phosphite. The reaction is carried out under reduced pressure conditions (e.g., -40 KPa to -100 KPa) to limit the amount of thioether species in said additive to less than about 45 mole %.

  • Patent number: 5237159
Abstract: An Electronic Check Presentment System provides a bank with a fully automated capability for participating in the electronic exchange of check data. It allows banks that utilize the system to take MICR data that has been obtained through check capture methods, selectively extract particular check records and place them in the form of electronic cash letters, transfer the electronic cash letters to selected banks, receive electronic cash letters from other banks, reconcile the electronic cash letters against the paper cash letters when they arrive, and input the electronic MICR data into a database responsible for maintaining check records.

  • Patent number: 5113033
Abstract: A catalyst system for codimerization of alpha-monoolefins and conjugated diolefins to yield 1,4-dienes. The catalyst system includes at least one ruthenium salt and at least one aluminum halide. Suitable aluminum halides include both alkyl aluminum halides and nonalkylated aluminum halides, as well as mixtures thereof.
