  • Publication number: 20070250026
Abstract: An absorbent article includes a liquid pervious liner, a liquid impervious back sheet, and an absorbent composite located between the liner and the back sheet. The absorbent composite includes a first sheet, a second sheet, and a unitary absorbent core. The unitary absorbent core has a plurality of holes there through, wherein each hole has an area less than 200 mm2. The unitary absorbent core has a uniform density and is positioned between the first sheet and the second sheet. The first sheet is directly joined with the second sheet at a plurality of bond points. The bond points are located within the holes and are substantially devoid of absorbent material.

  • Publication number: 20070246147
Abstract: A method for forming and stabilizing an absorbent composite web includes conforming a first web onto a forming surface having a plurality of raised nubs having upper surfaces. The first web defines a plurality of bond areas corresponding to those portions of the first web overlying the upper surfaces of the nubs. The method further includes depositing absorbent material onto the first web to form a unitary absorbent core having a plurality of holes therein. The method further includes joining a second web to the first web at the bond areas to form an absorbent composite web. The unitary absorbent core is positioned between the first web and the second web. The first web and the second web are bonded together through the holes in the absorbent core. The method further includes removing the absorbent composite web from the forming surface.

  • Publication number: 20070240586
Abstract: Facetted impression elements are disclosed. The impression elements can be located, for instance, on an anvil roll and may be used during an embossing or bonding process. The impression elements include at least two chamfered surfaces that at least partially surround the top surface. The chamfered surfaces are at an angle to the top surface that lower and reduce drag that may occur between the impression element and a sheet of material as the impression element enters and exits the sheet. In one embodiment, the impression element includes a first chamfered surface having an angle of from about 5° to about 40° and a second chamfered surface having an angle of from about 40° to about 70°.

  • Publication number: 20060004334
Abstract: Absorbent structures are disclosed which contain a first layer, a second layer, and an absorbent core. The absorbent structures are adapted to contain aqueous body exudates such as urine, menses and loose bowel movements. In particular, the absorbent structures of the present invention are suitable for incorporation into a variety of disposable absorbent articles.

  • Publication number: 20050256495
Abstract: A composite web has a first fastening material in a first longitudinally extending zone on a first outer surface, a second fastening material in a second longitudinally extending zone on the first outer surface, and at least a portion of a third fastening material on a longitudinal centerline on a second outer surface. A disposable absorbent article has a dual fastening system comprising a pair of front ear portions and a pair of back ear portions formed from a composite web. The composite web has first, second, and third fastening materials. Each back ear portion has a fastening material configured to engage the outer cover and each front ear portion has a fastening material configured to engage the body facing surface of the liner.

  • Publication number: 20050148968
Abstract: The present invention relates to disposable absorbent garments including a liquid barrier layer, a stretchable carrier layer, an elastic layer attached to the stretchable carrier layer and an absorbent section. The disposable absorbent garments include a front waist region, a back waist region and a crotch region that connects the front waist region and the back waist region. The front waist region, the back waist region and the crotch region each have a width in a lateral direction of the garments. The stretchable carrier layer has a width in the waist regions of about the width of the front waist region and the back waist region and a width in the crotch region of about the width of the crotch region.
