  • Publication number: 20070222668
Abstract: Described is a wave guide adapter for a filling level radar. The adapter includes a decoupling member for reducing a leakage signal from a first line to a second line. The decoupling member is electrically isolated from the lines. Reducing the leakage signal increases the sensor's sensitivity at close range.

  • Publication number: 20070188396
Abstract: For safety reasons the potential of an electrical supply line of a radar sensor should be separate from the potential of the filling level container. An arrangement for potential separation for a filling level radar includes a separation element for insulating the waveguide from the antenna. The separation element, corresponding to the cross section of the waveguide, is ring shaped. In this way rotatability between the sensor housing and the antenna subassembly is provided without influencing the signal line between the antenna and the waveguide.

  • Publication number: 20070188374
Abstract: A level measuring instrument has a variable transmitting power for measuring a filling level in a tank. The level measuring instrument includes a generator unit selectively generating different transmitting powers. The generator unit is controlled so that the transmitting power is respectively adapted to the corresponding environmental conditions. For this purpose, the generator unit has for instance two different oscillators, which are driven selectively.

  • Publication number: 20070182621
Abstract: The shape or amplitude of reference pulses in a filling level radar typically depend on the component quality of the circulator used, of a transmitting/receiving coupler, or else of the circuit temperature. In case of large echoes at close range, the quality of the measurement may deteriorate. A radar module for extracting a reference signal for a filling level radar comprises a tap extracting the reference signal and a delay line delaying the transmit signal. Delaying the transmit signal on its way to the antenna takes place after the extraction of the leakage pulse.

  • Publication number: 20070109178
Abstract: A waveguide transition for a fill level radar may include a printed circuit board in which a resonator is integrated. Together with a coupling element, the resonator is used for decoupling high-frequency waves from a feed line, that is also integrated in the printed circuit board, to a waveguide that is screwed onto the printed circuit board. There is thus no need to provide an external resonator.

  • Publication number: 20070028829
Abstract: For safety reasons the potential of an electrical supply line of a radar sensor may be separated from the potential of the fill level container. A fill level radar with potential separation includes a separation element for insulating the aerial from a feed device. • Publication number: 20030137372
Abstract: The invention relates to a plug-in connection for galvanically separating microwave signals in coaxial lines, so as to comply with the requirements made on an explosion-proof separation. The plug-in connection comprises a plug and a socket having inner and outer conductors both connected with the coaxial line, and which are also constituted by an inner and an outer conductor. Within the plug-in connection, a dielectric material is provided so as to guarantee a galvanic separation of the outer conductor of the socket with respect to the outer conductor of the plug. In another embodiment, also a galvanic separation of the inner conductor is realized apart from the galvanic separation of the inner conductor.

  • Patent number: 6469676
Abstract: An antenna connected to a waveguide can be used for level measurements of a bulk material by measuring the reflection of microwave radiation radiated towards the surface of the bulk material. Condensate droplets forming on the antenna may produce higher modes and echoes in the microwave signal. The effect caused by droplets can be ameliorated by increasing the size of the antenna and the waveguide. To obtain a usable measurement signal, a compromise between reducing the interference from condensate droplets and optimizing the electrical characteristics has to be found. The invention is directed to a waveguide which is designed to propagate at a particular frequency only the fundamental mode, while the antenna itself is capable of supporting higher order modes. A taper which is a dimensioned so as to transmit only the fundamental mode of the microwave signal, is placed between the waveguide and the antenna.
