  • Patent number: 7766217
Abstract: The invention relates to a new method for managing the feeding of a new coil into a continuous inline processing plant of a band-type product, in particular for passing short coils through the production line. According to the invention, the global duration for performing the general connection process of a new coil (11?) is divided into at least two time periods (T1, T3) realized in at least two successive portions (3, 4) of the inlet section (1) of the plant and the junction cycle is broken down into two separate phases S1, S2 between which a variable band length is set aside in at least one intermediate accumulator (5) in order to provide a time interval (T2) of variable duration between said time periods of the connection process. The invention applies especially to continuous etching lines of steel bands.

  • Patent number: 6612318
Abstract: This invention relates to an installation for pickling a metal band by immersion through at least one bath (3) filled with a pickling liquid contained in a tank (1). According to the invention, each tank (1) is provided with at least one row of injection nozzles (5) distributed longitudinally and supplied with pressurized pickling liquid in order to make at least one series of liquid jets reaching inside the bath (3), whereas the said nozzles (5) are placed at different levels matching the shape of the curve followed by the band (2) in the tank (1) so that the liquid jet injected into the bath (3) by each nozzle (5) is directed straightforwardly to the portion (23) of the band (2) passing in front of the nozzle in question.

  • Patent number: 6260564
Abstract: The purpose of the invention is a device for closing a tank (1) containing a corrosive product closed by at least two successive lids (5) whose two longitudinal sides (6) engage, upon closing, into two corresponding gutters (7) of the tank (1) which are filled with water in order to constitute a tight seal, so-called ‘water seal’. According to the invention, at least one additional medial, also U-section, transversal gutter (12) is interposed between both longitudinal gutters (7) of the tank (1) at a sealing plane (P) between two successive lids (5) whose opposite transversal sides (8) engage into the said transversal gutter (12) in order to form a water seal on at least three sides of each lid.

Abstract: The purpose of the invention is a treatment unit for a band product (2) comprising at least one extant treatment tub (1) connected to a mechanism (B) for controlling the running of the band product (2) inside the extant tub (1). The at least one extant treatment tub (1) is connected to at least one replacement tub (4) made of an oblong enclosure provided above the extant tub (1) and exhibiting a height (h) lower than the height (H) of the extant tub (1). The replacement tub (4) is associated with an apparatus for injecting the liquid and to the mechanism (B,B') for controlling the running of the band, so that the product (2) runs inside the replacement tub (4) in contact with the treatment liquid (A).

  • Patent number: 5454388
Abstract: The object of the invention is a processing installation, particularly a metal strip pickling installation, comprising a series of vats (2) filled with a pickling liquid (20), each vat (2) being separated from adjacent vats by two bulkheads. The upper portion of these bulkheads has a sill located above the level of the liquid (20) and which supports the strip (1). According to the invention, each sill (22) is fitted with a support part limited by a rounded, upwardly convex, contact face (4) on which a liquid recovery groove is provided. This liquid recovery groove extends along the upper part of the supporting part at right angles to the strip feed direction, and is extended, at at least one of its ends, by a return channel leading to the upstream vat (2a). The bottom (53) of the groove (5) and return channel (6) are downwardly inclined to allow the liquid recovered in the groove (5) to return naturally to the upstream vat (2a).
