According to one aspect, a hard imaging device comprises a communications interface configured to communicate with a communications medium external of the hard imaging device, an image engine configured to form hard images using media, a file system configured to store a plurality of electronic files, processing circuitry having a server system configured to communicate with the file system and at least an external management device or a computer device, and wherein communication with at least the external management device or the computer device is performed using a web sharing protocol.

Changes to the files system are made through a request, modifying the file system based on the request, and updating the database. When the printer manufacturer or solution provider desires to modify files affecting a program, a query may be made as to the existing files in the database of the particular printer.

Print history information includes details of each print instance, such as the date and time a document is printed, the printer used, and the computer device providing the print job. Advantages of the disclosed system and methods for creating a document print history include an ability to determine particular users who print restricted-access documents and an ability to maintain document databases.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for controlling printing of print jobs in a printing device where the print jobs are received in a print queue for sequential printing comprises interrupting printing of the current print job at a boundary location in response to a first signal received at the printing device. An indicator for the interrupted print job is stored. Identifiers of the print jobs in the print queue are stored in a memory of the printing device. Another of the print jobs residing in the print queue then is selected based on selection of a corresponding one of the identifiers and a printing operation is performed on the selected print job.

The system includes an executing services module containing a list of service processes that are currently executing in the operating system environment. The display structure is configured to display a relationship between the service requesting processes and the individual service process, wherein the service requesting processes call the individual service process to receive services.

The method includes the step of sending a process termination request through an operating system. A further step is receiving the process termination request in a shutdown interface that is operable in the operating system.
