    Abstract: A dental matrix band for use especially with modern restorative material includes a layer of gold disposed on the body portion of the matrix band. The layer of gold prevents otherwise undesirable adhesion between the restorative material and the matrix band. In the preferred embodiment, the layer of gold is plated onto a stainless steel matrix band body portion. The gold layer preferably has a thickness in the range from approximately 0.000005 inches to 0.001 inches.
