  • Patent number: 11018783
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a communication device so as to mitigate intermodulation interference to a signal. The methods comprise: continuously monitoring several communication channels by the communication device; using a noise floor level estimate of the communication device to detect when the communication device is under an influence of hig interference; determining an optimal level of attenuation to be applied by a variable attenuator of the communication device's receiver so as to mitigate the influence of intermodulation interference to the signal; and selectively adjusting an amount of attenuation being applied by the variable attenuator to achieve the optimal level of attenuation for mitigating intermodulation interference.

  • Patent number: 10931321
Abstract: Systems and methods for mitigating broadband and/or Intermodulation (“IM”) interference. The methods comprise: monitoring performance of at least one demodulator performance metric of a communication device; detecting when the communication device is under or will be under an influence of IM interference based on a performance of the at least one demodulator performance metric; determining an improved level of gain to be applied to (i) a variable attenuator of the communication device or (ii) a variable gain low noise amplifier of the communication device; and selectively adjusting an amount of gain being applied by the variable attenuator or variable gain low noise amplifier based on the improved performance achieved with new level of attenuation.

  • Patent number: 10396862
Abstract: Cooperative multi-node MIMO communications involves a second wireless communication device (WCD) or more generally a self-selection of devices which selectively assists a first WCD with respect to communication of a first message to a third WCD. This assistance involves transmitting the first message using the second wireless communication device. More particularly, transmission of the first message by the second wireless communication devices is performed synchronously with at least one retransmission of the first message by the first wireless communication device. This retransmission is performed at a predetermined re-transmission time known to both the first and second wireless communication devices.

  • Patent number: 9295020
Abstract: A method for registration and maintenance of a data connection using a proxy wireless network service involves registering a multi-network terminal on a first network that is made up of a first network infrastructure. The method includes transmitting registration information for a second network to a proxy component that is part of the first network infrastructure. The transmission of the registration information causes the proxy component to forward said registration information to an agent component that is part of the second network that is made up of a second network infrastructure. The method also includes receiving a registered service from the second network based on the registration information that was transmitted to the first network infrastructure. The method also includes transmitting a message to the second network and receiving the registered service from the second network in response to the message.

  • Patent number: 9231711
Abstract: Method for mitigating interference is established by means of a local wireless communication (204, 206) between a first portable communication device (PCD) (102, 301) and a second PCD (104, 302). The first and second PCD (301, 302) respectively communicate with first wireless network (110, 306, 310) and second wireless network (112, 308, 312) having different wireless air interface protocols. The local wireless communication link (107) is used to share (208) information (109, 111) concerning one or both of the first and second PCD. The information is then used to determine a communication priority (210) as between the first and second PCD with respect to at least one communication mode. The information is also used to selectively establish (212) an interference mitigation policy (304) to provide assured communications for the PCD with priority. The interference mitigation policy is executed (214) in the first and second PCD to cooperatively provide assured communication for the PCD with priority.

  • Patent number: 8693363
Abstract: Systems (100, 200) and methods for providing TDMA communication. The methods involve determining a channel quality of an uplink channel. A communication delay is set equal to an integer value “K”. “K” is selected based on the channel quality. “K”?“N”. “N” is a total number of frames of a time slot of a TDMA signal (400). Thereafter, First Message Data (FMD) is communicated over the uplink channel in a first time slot (A1) of an uplink signal (1000, 1100, 1200, 1400, 1500, 1600). An Error Control Process (ECP) is performed using FMD to at least identify First Error Free Message Data (FEFMD). Filler data and/or at least a portion of FEFMD is communicated over a downlink channel in a last “N?K” frames of a time slot (A1) of a downlink signal (1050, 1150, 1250, 1450, 1550, 1650), when “K”<“N”.
